Now It's My Turn To Brag About A Sweet Score...w/questions

Picked up an Atari Football, decent shape as you can see from the pics:

I know it's been 32 years since I played or even seen one of these up close but I thought it had a play titled "Bomb" and these did not have a "Punt" option, anyone have a history lesson on these?

Thx.

Nice Score!! Klover Blindog has one of those machines. Its awesome!!! Just make sure you never play against Walter Day, He will kick your ass!!;)

The really cool thing is you don't see those too often with nice sideart like that.

Just be sure to post one of these signs near by and you'll be fine:

I'm not near mine right now, but here's a pic. It's different.

It has Sweep, Keeper, Bomb, Down and Out.

That's the plays I remember from bitd, I can't believe the last time I played one of these I was 12....lol....

2 versions of 2 player football roms/control panel

They made 2 versions of the Atari Football roms/cp. 1 with punt that you have and the other with "the bomb" that you remember. The one you have is less common. Is the rom version with punt in MAME? Last time I checked I do not think it was. You may need to archive those roms if possible.

Thanks, I checked the MAME copy I have and it is not the punt version, I do not know how to archive roms but will work with anyone who can do it for me.

If your board is working you have a rare find! Punt ROMs are very hard to get ahold of. They need to be archived. I would love a copy

The thing works great!

Even the coin mech worked, Cleaned the glass top and underside, Magic Eraser-ed the entire outside, I lubed the trackball bearings, noticed a small amount of wear to the rollers but not horrible so I don't have to replace them immediately, noticed one side was missing two of the recessed machine screws that hold the trackball assembly together so I found a couple temporary screws to secure it for now, pretty clean inside, no water damage anywhere, had the manual inside, dang my hands are hurting now though!! Forgot how much effort was required to play...lol.... :)

Not quite sure if I should really mess with the artwork or the control panels too much as they really aren't in terrible shape....

Or "Danger: Severe Wrist Damage!"

Its a neat game. I've only played it once but my hands hurt afterward.
