Now I have Ghouls 'N Ghost! (Street Fighter 2 Turbo: HF conversion)

Thanks go to dbstallman, who burned my ROMs and the GAL 16V8 necessary for this conversion! Not only that, he did it for a great price and the turnaround was 1 day! That's right, he got and mailed it back the next day!

I so completed my Quadfecta! Ghosts 'N Goblins, Ghouls 'N Ghosts, Black Tiger, and Rastan. These 4 games are my faves! Now I just need to decide on how I am going to play them... Do I make a special cabinet for them???

Needed for this conversion:
All together it is way cheaper than buying the real thing.

Awesome Tighe! I have 3 if those 4 games restored and I'm working on Rastan!
I really enjoyed the tips and tricks video. It would be cool to have a video series on how to play all these games.

That was hardly a T&T vid, but now you mention it, I think I will make some serious ones.

I can't wait to see your Rastan!

You should do Taito's Gladiator and Cladash too!

I'm hurt you killed a hyper fighting :/ CE totally ok!

I had 2, and it can easily be turned back.

Conversions are the way to go for these boards. The price for an original is ridiculous and this runs the exact same way.

Do what I did and get a Dynamo cab. I put a 6-1 with Ghouls N Ghosts,Ghosts N Goblins,Willow,Splatterhouse,Haunted Castle,and Magic Sword for a Multi-Side Scroller cabinet

I wish I had pictures but now it has Splatterhouse art that I lifted from the Japanese console boxes. Eventually it'll be a Ghouls N Ghost cab but I need to find a way to make the bezel fit a 25" monitor.

How can you leave out Strider...

Aw man, I should have never gotten rid of my SF2 CE board! I only sold it for something like $25!

Broodwich is mad because he says the price of SF2T boards are going to skyrocket because of my post. :D

LOL. I doubt it.

I've been aware of this conversion for several years (didn't make my own until a year ago). There's even a easily found instruction on the web if you have access to the Japanese EPROM version of SSF2' : http://retrogamebay.free.fr/?convertir-une-pcb-capcom-cps-en-daimakaimura-resale-version.html

The instructions are in French, but are pretty straight forward. The only problem is the GAL that is provided wont work for the US mask ROM version of the "B" board that we see here in the states. The biggest hurdle for those wanting to make their own is finding the correct code for the GAL at 2a (that is what took me the longest). It seems that those that have it don't want to share... ;)

Very cool. Albeit watching these games makes me cringe...bringing back the terrible memories of my NES game that you would spend hours trying to get through, only to die at the very end because you missed some stupid jump. God how I hated jumps!

God, I just want this damn game. Only game on my want list. I don't care if it's a conversion or not, just want to play the arcade version of Ghouls!! This might be the answer.

So I am guessing you should be able to do this to any CPS-1 board (without reading or watching vids cause I am tired and lazy)? I'm sure $$$ wise GnG > HF...but gameplay wise, I dunno. I'd rather convert a random Rainbow Edition or a WW/CE that's collecting dust. :p

Thanks for sharing that information Brian!! Luke Morse pointed out to me that on these conversion boards the sounds aren't quite right. It has been probably 20 years since I played the actual arcade version, so I can't tell.

I am wondering if maybe there is a difference in the ROMs for the sounds (midi instruments)? I don't know enough about this, but isn't the sound chip on the A board? Is there anyone with a real Ghouls that wouldn't mind taking some pictures of the A board and possibly ROM images from it?

Here is Luke's video:

I have a CPS1 Pang 3 and I wonder if I could put the G&G B board on it and see if it sounds differently. Would it hurt the boards to swap them?

I believe WW is harder to convert, but Brian would know better than I would. CE & Rainbow use the same board as Turbo, just a few different ROMs.
