Finally got my hands on a high voltage probe for a decent price:

I've done a lot of work on monitors lately, and sure, the Bob Roberts screwdriver discharge tool was nice for most work on raster monitors, but now that I've got my big boy pants on and I'm doing work for other for actual MONEY....I figured I'd better get the right tools for the job. Plus, I have a vector monitor with a bad high voltage diode, and I won't pull the chassis until I can discharge the tube. I need this tool to discharge the tube properly.

A fairly decent price for this one at $24.95. Looks like it goes for over $100 in most places new.

That's a nice probe, makes me want to buy one. You know now that you posted one there's going to be a spike in prices on ebay right?

Why do you think I kept my mouth shut until AFTER I had one??

:D

Seriously, though, I've been watching the high voltage probes on feeBay for the past few weeks, and ones like this have been ending at right around $30 or so every couple of days. So you needn't worry - if you're looking for one for a good price, they can be had.
