Not to brag or anything but, i just got electofuggincuted by adjusting monitor!!!

Yea.... I know im going to get some flak for it..... But i am a noob who is ultimately trying to learn..... I was only twisting the yoke on my Mk3 to center the picture and WHAM!!!! i was instantly dancing!! My friggin thumbnail now has a bloodspot under the nail.......

Anyone ever expiereienced some shocking noob action such as this?

Trust me, it's just as bad when it happens after years of monitor repair...

I think I touched the HOT case once, and it left a white burn mark on my hand. While I jumped, it mostly made me mad.

About a month ago I was adjusting the power supply in my Joust cocktail and got hit. That dam neck board is all the way at the bottom of the cabinet I didn't even know what was going on when it happened. All I know Is I heard the zot yelped and had about 5 holes burned in the side of my hand.

While installing a new outlet I flipped the wrong breaker... subsequently
I stood in the dark contemplating whether or not I was alive for a few seconds.

Funny, when that breaker trips and the lights go out, how alive you actually feel when you realize your okay.

Consider it a reminder to appreciate your life. I slowed way the heck down after that. I think twice and cut once when doing any electrical work now. :001_sbiggrin:

You guys are totally right..... I told my parents about it, and got a speech...... About how lucky i am to be alive..... No more monitor adjustments while the power to them are on.....

it happens man.. you just jump back, make sure your heart is still beating, thank godf you can still play with arcade games, and get back to it.
when moving the yoke you have to be really careful to grab it by the plastic parts only man.. you learned this the hard way lol

I am afraid to mess with monitors at this point. I have heard horror stories enough, and have zapped myself enough times in my loife doing other shit to not want to go through it again.

I think this forum needs an "Electrocution showcase" sub-forum, where people can share their stories of getting zapped and post photos of burn marks. ;)

I've been zapped a few times doing other electrical stuff, but not yet by a monitor. <knock wood> Although after reading posts like this, I'm tempted to get a pair of used electrician's gloves for the next time I need to do a yoke adjustment.

I think there are a lot of clumsy people in this hobby.

Not that I'm not one of them, I'm just saying... :D

i was working on an EM game the warning sticker said: flash assembly holds charge for up to 10 minutes after power is removed. you know what? they weren't lying. when i touched it and got zapped the flash went off and so did the "blast"sound, i jumped up whacked my head lost my balance and broke the back glass.thankfully i had another glass.

You'll never forget your first time and Steve is right, it never gets any better

Well, it only hurts the first 20 times... then it don't hurt no more...

then the next few times you start to like it... then you start wishing your cell-mate was better-looking... then you find out you can trade a pack of ciggaretes for a...

Wait a minute... what are we talking about again?
