Not so friendly klover!

I don't want everyone in the hood knowing I have these in my house.

Maybe he thought you were casing his house?

Or maybe your girlfriend looks so hot in her jogging outfit that he couldn't even put two syllables together...:eek::D:cool:

Then keep them behind closed doors.
If you keep them in an open garage then people already know you have them.

If was just a local stranger I could see that but another KLOVER is entirely different.
That should merit an I am busy come by when I have some spare time to chat at least.
Or something to that effect.

I have met a few KLOVers and have also done deals in person, a few i have become friends with and do socialize with when i see them, but to be honest even the people i know and like i have a hard time being around, like i said in my previous post its a social anxiety issue for me, it sucks but that's the way i feel, there have been many occasions where i needed help and refused it just because I felt that immense pressure, hard to explain... i guess im just weird. Nothing against the people who are outgoing and social, I am who I am

Some people look at these games as a good time with friends who shared the same memories.

Some people here look at these machines as unobtainable grails that they will easily backstab each other to get to so they can absess alone with their "collection" making sure the machine never sees play by unfit hands.

Im still learning where most of the people on klov fall into..

Sounds like the Sundance fiasco.

guy could have just been busy or stressed out doing stuff..

I know for me it never fails to annoy me when I have 30 things to do and someone wants to stop and shoot the shit for 10 minutes.

Granted I would probably tell the person that and try not be a dick but to each his own there.

I never quite understood the whole "I don't want people to know I have these" mentality.

They aren't all too mobile. Are you worried someone is going to break in to your place and steal your 300+ pound arcade machines in the cover of night?

There is more money involved in a PS4 setup + games in most cases than an arcade game... and that is a WHOLE lot more mobile.

Are you people REALLY worried about people jacking your arcade machines that combined weigh TONS?

So I went to visit my girlfriend and we were going to go for a small jog around the neighborhood when not too far down the street I see a deluxe Star Wars trilogy sitting in an open crate. I was like wow a fellow game collector. Also knowing how hard these things are to move around I thought I would stop and ask if he needed some help. My girlfriend definitely knows how hard these things are to move since she occasionally will help move some of the smaller ones.

I approached him, keep in mind we hadn't started jogging so we weren't sweaty, and he just seemed stand offish. I told him I collected games as well and asked him if he was on KLOV. He nodded yes, really didn't seem like he wanted to talk or even wanted any help moving the game. So after talking for all of 60 seconds we went on our way and went on our jog.

When I pass this house on my way to my gf's house I give a mental stare each time. I would like to think I caught him on a bad day but just don't really know of anyone that would be turning down free help. I really thought I was going to make an arcade friend that day but it totally backfired.

Anyone else experience anything like this?

I can't wait for said "Not so friendly klover" to comment on how annoyed he was by a passer by that wouldn't leave him alone while he was trying to un-crate his arcade game and get it inside before his wife got home from work and found out.

OMG... I have this same argument with my wife. She's always worried people will see the games in the garage when I have the door open, worried they will see us moving games to the basement.

I use the same logic back at her... There's a lot more money tied up in smaller, more portable electronics in my house... and they are likely a lot easier to get rid of. Any idiot that wants to come to my house and steal my games will have to lug the heavy bastards out of my basement while my dogs chew on your legs.

I think the idea is that if they see you own arcade machines they will think you have money, and hence consider robbing your house.

Sorry man but I'm just not comfortable around people that stare at my crotch the whole time they talk to ya. Anyway, I got my 83 yr old mom to help with the cabinet no thanks to you

Crotch's Arcade :) Nothing wrong with the ops wife staring at your crotch. Take the compliment. Geez.

In my opinion if a person is out to rob a house they will do it one way or the other, But showing off all the toys in the garage is also a good way to draw attention to yourself so if they hadn't already made their minds on who to rob that might be a selling point, you have cool stuff in the garage what else might you have in the house? and who knows ... the stupid burglar might be using ebay prices and assume that old ms pacman you have in the garage is worth 3,000 :D

If I saw a garage full of classic cars... I'd think dough. Or a garage full of Harley Davidson bikes... or a garage full of (any number of things). A garage full of arcade games ... meh. There is more dough tied up in the vehicle sitting on the driveway than in the games sitting in the garage.

You DO realize you posted this on the KLOV forums right?

Well said and thanks for the great laugh!!!

"Yeh, good luck with that and let me know how that works out for you..." :)

For me, I'm close enough to the PD that the guy would be on the floor convulsing or bleeding from being tazzed or shot, not to mention the dog bite wounds, before he could get a game up the first slight of stairs!

ding ding.. I think that having a collection of this stuff makes anyone seem like they have more money - valuables, etc inside than they probably actually do.

I picked up a Battlezone from a guy who wouldn't even come to the door. He had his friend do the talking and he would shuttle messages back and forth.

Whatever. Step back and realize we are all adults holding on to and obsessing over 20-30 year old boxes with TVs in them. Most people would find that a little strange.

WTF is up with that? I wonder if he was physically restricted from moving or something?

I remember getting my Mortal Kombat 2 cabinet delivered to my house and opening my garage to put the cabinet in and as soon as I get the cabinet put in my garage an adult man on a skateboard and a little kid on his bike come to my garage and the man says" I like games!" . I was like WTH?! in my head because I just wanted the two to go away so I could enjoy my new game and have my moment. I said " I like games to" and then tried to ignore them so they would go away and I could play my new game in peace. I just wanted my time with the new game then later I would have been different towards these guys. Hope I don't sound like a jerk or weirdo.

Should have just closed the garage, whether they were in or out.
