Not so friendly klover!

I wouldn't hesitate to make unforced contact or extension of friendship to the guy - wave if you see him , say hi if you're walking by . Even the socially awkward and shut-ins like social contact once they've had a chance to get comfortable . Maybe you caught him on a bad day or maybe he really is a dick - but give him a chance to prove it either way .

I picked up a Battlezone from a guy who wouldn't even come to the door. He had his friend do the talking and he would shuttle messages back and forth.

Whatever. Step back and realize we are all adults holding on to and obsessing over 20-30 year old boxes with TVs in them. Most people would find that a little strange.

Some people look at these games as a good time with friends who shared the same memories.

Some people here look at these machines as unobtainable grails that they will easily backstab each other to get to so they can absess alone with their "collection" making sure the machine never sees play by unfit hands.

Im still learning where most of the people on klov fall into..

This is great. Most ALL techs I this biz are awkward. I have hired DOZENS in my time and the really good techs, yeah, are socially weird..

Don't let it bother you..

Guess it didn't really bother me. Just struck me as odd. I've picked up games from plenty of people and they like to chit chat about the hobby. I guess the biggest thing is I just thought he could use some help since it seems like it had just been dropped off on a palette. I guess the weird thing is and kind of second part of it is that it was there in the front driveway for three days at least and on one of the days it rained really hard and he had a pop up tent over it. I could have definitely helped him get it in to avoid that. Was just trying to be the nice guy.

I also let him know I have plenty of games and definitely wasn't interested in his. I am at the point where I'm trying to get rid of a few myself due to space constraints. Won't stop me from being friendly if situation arose I would offer to help again. Just the type of person I am.

I am outgoing and approachable, and have no issues approaching strangers that I see collect, and can talk for hours. Others approach me, we talk, I offer a beer or beers depending on how long we chat....maybe even start up the BBQ.

Guys, these are arcades, who cares if people see them. They are supposed to be fun and played, and in my opinion shared.

Show off your hard work, its not like someone can easily steal these beasts, lol.

In the end, treat people the way you want to be treated, and in some cases where people treat you like shit, they too will be treated like shit (maybe not by you, but surely by others). Maybe they already do get treated like shit from people which adds to them being that way. Walk away from people like that, and have nothing to do with them. Thats my best advice.

I think where you messed up is when you offered to help. When people offer (and insist) on helping me move an arcade game something usually gets broken lol

I've had similar experiences with fellow KLOVers, some people are just weird...

***Goes to check VAPs to see who has a Star Wars Trilogy in Tx***

By your account and my standards, you said a lot.... You were not bouncing around like the UPS guy on in living color were you?

If this happened in Arizona or California, then I could understand. Those KLOV'rs are the worst. :D But in Texas? LOL, last time I visited Texas, everyone called me Bubba ... now if that ain't neighborly, what is?

Still waiting for a pic of the gf so that theory can be proven or dis-proven ... :001_scool:

So I went to visit my girlfriend and we were going to go for a small jog ...

Winner winner chicken dinner. Leave my shit alone. If it gets broke it'll be by MY hands, not some sloppy half-assed neighbor who can walk away and say, "oops, sorry I necked your 6100."

And no, I'm not making the assumption that you are a sloppy half-assed neighbor. But Murphy's law states that when I accept help, it WILL be from "that guy."

Ever hear the expression "No good deed goes unpunished?"

He probably wants his machines handled a certain way, and that's that. As would I.
