I missed a FREE working Pac-Man 2 weeks ago by about 30 seconds. A pac or ms. pac has on my wish list for a while now. They don't appear often in Utah and when they do they want $1,500+
I almost cried.
So I asked if the guy picked it up:
Seller: Sorry, the guy picked it up already. It wasn't in working condition, needed a lot of work.
He was smart to have picked it up, I would have given up a lot for that game.
sucks ya missed out on it, but you never know, maybe they had a big pricetag on it. too many people are jumping on the craigslist bandwagon which is a good/bad thing. but it sucks cause it means you've gotta be quick on the trigger to get anything anymore.
Except I sent another e-mail and asked (why would I do such a thing??) Ready?
$45!
The work it needed was that 1/2 of the playfield lights were blown.
sigh...
I was the lucky one who got it. Just beat out Mike too! Sorry Mike.
The lady was 2 miles from my job but I didn't have my van. I was going to get it tomorrow morning but decided I better go the 25 miles home at lunch time and get my van so I could get the game today. Sounds like that was a smart move on my part.
The game powers up. The screen comes on with a great picture and the pinball area all lights up. It just won't start a game.
The cabinet is in real nice shape but the playfield is worn really bad as is the sideart.
Needless to say I believe it was a good score.

So was it $45? Or was she messing with me?
I can't believe she told you that. I paid $200. Just beating out Mike's offer of $150.

I have 10 of them what is it worth to you?
So did you start trembling when you found out it was a Baby Pac???
Yeah when I asked her what the game was I was expecting her to say it was some non working fighting game that I would have had no interest in. When she said Baby Pac I knew that the clock was ticking down on me to get it before anyone else.
The samething happened back in May with a church tag sale in Springfield Mass. It simply stated three arcade games. I asked and was told they had a working Neo Geo for $200, a non working Neo Geo for $100 and a non working Dragon's Liar II for $100. I asked him if he would hold the DL II for me and I would drive the 2 hours out the morning of the sale to get it. He said he would and to my surprise no one else inquired about them and I drove out and picked up the DL II. I sure was nervous in the days leading up to the sale as well as the drive out that day hoping nothing was going to screw up the deal.
I am very happy for you, but that is also what makes me sad about this forum, we local guys are competing for stuff and feel the sadness of losing out. I am glad it is going to a good home, nothing worse then if it was MAMEd! Can you imagine?!?!
Yeah, you no good game stealer, you beat me to it!!![]()
Actually Steve has been at it a long time before I even started collecting and has had it pretty easy. Now I keep him on his toes. We actually have to tell each other if we got a deal brewing so we don't screw it up or raise the price for the other guy.
Some people don't realize how stressful it can be. You usually have to make a offer on a game you never saw. Hoping it won't be a total wreck. You have to be prepared at a moments notice to jump in the van/truck and get the game. And while driving there wondering if someone is going to offer more and screw up the deal before you get there. Collecting these things is a tough business to be in.
