Those don't have anything to do with stopping "cheating". Those are the stop my machine from getting beaten to hell night and day, the noise is a bloody nuance buttons.

I get that... but somehow they seem to have come to be called "no cheating" buttons. (Pincil trick perhaps) but I believe you are correct that they originally were to prevent banging on the buttons... ??

I remember seeing a stuck-on sign that read "NO FISTS" on Track & Field control panels before they had these.

They certainly stopped me from playing it. Hated those goddamn things.

They were never really an issue for me since using your fists to play is not going to get you any records. They are actually pretty nicely designed buttons that operate very smoothly.

EVB is one of the best players I've even seen on this game. (And MANY others). Yeah those buttons pissed me off bitd.

Yep, commonly called "anti cheat" buttons.

They were designed to prevent the game from being played in ways it wasn't intended to be played (like using a pencil), which made high scores easier to get.

This could reasonably be defined as cheating.

Those things never stopped me from using a pencil. They just changed the way I held it. When held on the biggest part of my knuckle, the left button was still pressed with the pencil. Then my grip on the pencil was slightly adjusted so my index finger actually pressed the button on the right. Simple as that.

Also, 3 of the 4 ways they can be installed still allowed my 8 finger technique which was my preference anyway. Just not on Hurdles and High Jump.

I do remember those having a very short actuation which made them very fast. They were also very sturdy. Good buttons I will say.

Those buttons definitely steered me clear of that game BitD. Too weird / unwieldy. Definitely neat for nostalgia reasons though, and I've seen many threads of people seeking them out.

Jawan, absolutly did the same back in the say with me... very well constructed and great buttons though...
