Do I not get what NOS means, it should mean a nice clean item that is "New Old Stock" however, this does not look new to me?

"NOS Playchoice Joystick"

Maybe I'm just letting the "lower 48" shipping get under my skin, because I know that it's the same price to ship USPS anywhere in the country and I have no problems shipping much larger items to people for a lot less than $15 dollars, all the way from one of the 2 excluded states :)

Where is the love that Hawaii deserves!!! That's it...4goodeals is not invited to my place for some cocktail Joust and fresh Ahi if they visit HI. But everyone not from Georgia is invited... two can play at this game.

It's eBay, they probably put NOS in the title for the same reason people put 'iPod' in the title of stuffed animals. It's a "buzz word" that attracts more attention to the auction.

Usps

Unless you use a flat rate box. The PO charges different rate depending on the destination within the cont. US. Not sure about the 2 outcast states.

To me it looks dusty, but I couldn't say I see signs of actual wear really, so maybe it is NOS? Just ask him why he thinks it's NOS. I've bought from him and he seems like a decent guy. He's also on the forums here, or as I understand it was on the forums. I think he's getting out of the hobby or something.

Yeah, hes selling everything he has. I've bought quite a bit of stuff from him, including two of my games, and hes been pretty good to deal with, other than high shipping prices. Only had one board that didnt work, but I bought it as is...and we all know how that goes.

I'd love me some fresh Ahi and Kalua pig. Mmmmm

That's Steve and his kids are doing the listings, so there may be some errors. Shipping is $15 on everything because he has sold stuff for less than .99 and while that's fine, losing more money on shipping isn't. As for the part, I don't see any solder on the switches, so it very well could be NOS, just with shelf wear. If you really want it, bid and have it sent to me. I'll forward it on.

You can see clearly that that joystick has been mounted before. However, I don't know if that means it is not NOS. Did PC-10 kits and/or replacement PC-10 control panel come with the joysticks pre-mounted to the control panel?

None of my well-used and abused Nintendo joysticks (I have several of them) have solder on the switch tabs either. There's no need for solder if used with a proper wiring harness.

To me NOS just means that it was never used or installed, it doesn't mean it is mint. I used to work for a car part manufacturer that specialized in obsolete parts, not only did they make parts but they would buy up every ones NOS parts that had been sitting on shelves for X number of years and then resell them. Well I used to inventory these NOS parts, and yes they had never been used but they would be rusty, rubbers would be cracked, etc.

Spike10: Yes, that's what's annoying and false advertising....but it is ebay

7146aaron: True, but at 15 for shipping you might as well, this would easily fit in a $10 box and for almost 0 effort you walk away with 5 in your pocket. flat rate boxes are highly under utilized.

TheShanMan: I did ask if it was truly NOS, haven't heard back, tried to buy stuff before when he had combined shipping advertised, but I bought one thing before he had it and then the second auction had his lower 48 states stuff. Took 3 weeks for him to get back to me, at which point the auction was over.

Zud: Come on by, we'll grill it up tonight

cnlmoore: Yeah this is the problem with ebay and shipping and dealing with all that crap, however 15 is a lot more than a flat rate, which with Paypal and all that is so freaking easy and effortless now.... My guess is that it's a mistake and it's just not installed currently, the top of the ball looks scratched up

MaximRecoil: I would disagree if it's been installed it's not NOS, however it may still be in great shape. But NOS means that the item is basically new, just not produced anymore and should be unused. Maybe it's got a few scuffs from being on the shelf...but not use.

pmichelsen: I agree, and in HI rust is a give on metal more than 2 days old....

osver: Spam Musubi... it's crazy I moved from the home of spam in MN to the land of Spam in HI. Spam is so pervasive here McDonald's serves it on egg sandwiches! Spam Musubi is very very popular. It's crazy being able to grab sushi packs at 7/11, and again come on by and we'll build the imu for some good old fashioned Lau Lau

Can't speak to the specifics of the seller, but for some folks "NOS" simply means that it's never been installed/used. Says nothing about the cat pissing on it and it sitting in a moldy party of the basement to dry for 5 years. It's usually a shortcut to finding pristine stuff in practice, but depending on the seller it could mean a lot of different things.

Yup. My wife grew up in Hawaii, and my in-laws are there, so I'm no stranger to eating spam. Spam musubi makes a great quick snack... we'll make some and take it in to baseball games occasionally. We just had lau lau the other night for dinner.

Now I'm getting hungry for island food... some curry tonkatsu sounds pretty good right about now.

So, we are debating whether a nice looking joystick that sold for $3.04 is NOS or not?????????????????? It's worth that much whatever you call it. Yeesh!!

Welcome Rich....actually the discussion started before the final price, but it sold for 18.04 (hard to ignore 15 dollar shipping...). Thanks for bumping the thread up though :)
