Northern Ohio - possible parting-out project

I've gotten a couple PMs from guys who can't make it but want a specific part. No problem, so long as the crew who are actually there don't want it. If there is something you want, feel free to drop me a PM.

Here's the current head-count:

Vongoosewink
Patchboston
rtree1
muchuckwagon
Lotus241
Robomayhem

Just got confirmations that Rory and ilay2lo can't make it.

Still waiting on a couple more confirmations from new guys, tell your friends! I want to get at least 7 of us so our cost is $70 or less per person.

I'll give it 'till this afternoon, then I'll send out final details and directions.

Got a couple PMs about the monitors, if I recall correctly a lot of the games there had 25" monitors.

OK Dudes, the DIRECTIONS have been sent.

For those attending:
Let's keep this all fun and friendly. We can prioritize our wants when we get there, so everyone is happy!
We can take whole cabs or strip them. Bring a truck.
Bring your own tools and a flashlight!
Bring a packed lunch and something to drink, there are no restaurants close.
You WILL get dirty parting-out these games, the are very dusty. Don't wear anything you don't want dirty.

Anyone who still wants to attend, or really wants a part off one of these cabs, PM me asap.

just got done unloading my loot

I just got done unloading the loot I scored at the parting-out party. This is what I got: Superman in a Wizzard of Wor cab, capcom bowling in a solid Taito cab, a Simpsons project cab, 4 monitors, a bunch of joysticks, a stack of marquees, mk3 pcb, zaxon pcb, and a nice midway coindoor. Thanks Chris for putting this together. And you might be a redneck if you drive from Youngstown to Cleveland with a project Simpsons cab tied to the roof of your van!!! I am such a hillbilly!!!!

Here it is!

Definitely a good time! The weather cooperated too. It always fun scoring projects, except suddenly you realize that you need more parts to complete them.. lol.

Props to Chris, and it was cool meeting you all.

It was nice to meet everyone. I just wish my trailer plans had worked out so I could have spent less time parting out games and more time hanging out. I'm glad to see you guys were able to get the cabinet on top of the van and it made it home in one piece.

Thanks to Chris for organizing the event...now I have a pile of parts in the garage the wife wants sorted and put away. :)

Great time meeting you all.

Happy to report the Golden Tee PCB and Racing Force work...granted Racin Force has some monitor issues but coined it up and had a few spins around the garage last night.

Attaching a link to some photos of the aftermath, the group on one of the rides and my grab.

So far its looking good. ... all the monitors power up but do as excepted have some signs of bad caps/ ics - partial vert collapse and such.

Sadly the Big Run was missing its PCB but it still fired up the monitor….so looks like it's a good foundation for some hybrid project.

So did anyone find any treasures??….I some how found a set of large missile command schematics, and complete new wire harness roll in a plastic bag…another 2.50 in change and a popsicle stick.

It was also nice to find the keys to each cab…… in the bottom of each cab after I spent time drilling out the locks…ugh

Great picture of the pickin' crew!

Cool pics; glad you have had a fair amount of success. I have yet to test the monitors and PCB's I got, but one cab I got has at least a bad power supply, and the Turkey Hunting is not only missing the PCB but also someone cut the JAMMA connector off as well  So a new harness is due for that one.

If any of you ever get out this way again, let me know and we can get together and do some gaming at my place.

A big thanks to all the guys who came -- great to meet all of you, and it was a real blast tearing the games up!

I took home 2 19", 2 25" a "Martial Champion" game in a converted TRON cabinet, a Raiden game in a big Dynamo 25" cab, and a wacky 'Gorilla Grip Tester'. None of my cabs work yet, but the Martial Champion PCB works fine -- still need to open up and test Raiden.

Other fun surprises -- some NOS Mortal Kombat 2 side art rolled up in the bottom of a cab, a complete NeoGeo populated CP in the bottom of another. I opened the Cherry Master cab to find a big bag of potting fertilizer inside, and about 60 empty quarter rolls. And enough quarters to get lunch at Wendy's afterword. Woo!

As far as classics goes, the best one was probably the Rally X cab, it looked like a dedicated game and in nice shape. There was a nice Domino Man that had been turned into Martial Champion, the TRON that had been turned into the same game, and what looked to be a Galaga that had been turned into a golf game. Oh, and the Zaxxon that was lying on it's back on a table, with the bottom foot chopped off! I regret leaving the Domino Man cab, it has a cool shape and would have made a great space game -- ah well, only so much room!

Great fun, and here are a few pictures I took with my phone:

And a few more, with some shots of the gutted cabs at the end.

Sad that so many games had to die, but their parts will live on (in our other needy machines!)

The Martial Champion Tron is a pretty interesting conversion...Wonder if the original sideart is under there :D

Wish I had been able to make it up...looks like you guys found a few treasures in there :001_sbiggrin:

Is that a journey cab in one of the last pics posted? the picture before the gutted outrunners cab?

Looked more like a Stargate to me, but I couldn't tell from the pics. If it was a Journey cab, I hope someone saved it...that one is on my top 5 list :D

Edit: Looking at the pics again, that was indeed a Journey cab...Yet another thing I missed out on :(

I am pretty sure that the cab with the black sides was a Domino Man cab. The sticker was still inside the cab.

I think you are right....looking at the monitor orientation there, it def looks more like DM...
Good to know it wasn't a Journey though I'm sure there are some Domino Man fans out there :D
