I'm looking for repair service in or near Huntsville AL.
I have 1976 Royal Flush Gottlieb, D & Co.

Anyway have any inputs?

Sorry if I've posted in the wrong area... the amount of information here is overwhelming.

First off found a coil that was burned...

Tilt/Hold relay.... I have the schematic but can't seem to isolate what is causing the over heating. I know it means the coil stays on too long...:(

I have a new coil ready to put back in but want to figure out what fries it. The last one I put in was quickly toasted.

The machine stays in Game Over or Tilt mode for the most part now....

Thanks for your replay and yes I too think it's probably a simple problem but I have no clue where to look.

Thanks,

Check all the tilt and slam switches...I think there are 3 tilts. One may be stuck closed. Also check the plumb bob and ball roll tilt switches.

I've checked the tilt switches

and I don't have the pendulum installed so that's not it either. I've ruled out the obvious stuff. This game worked before my brother had it for about two years. He said the girls were playing it and it just quit. I'm sure there's more to the story... I'm just glad to have it back but want it to work :(

Did you check the one on the door or under the playfield ??? Some are normally closed as well and others are normally open. The schematic will tell you which is which.

I think there are three?

There's one in the back board. One on the bottom middle and one in the door. The pendulum is out of the picture. I think I've made sure the normally open were in the right state as well as the ones that were normally closed. I will definitely recheck...

I've become frustrated with the problem and just wanted to find someone in my area that has more exprerience with troubleshooting.

I'm local, but probably don't know much more about EM troubleshooting than you. Follow the schematic, study it, check switches, but careful not to disturb any switches that aren't related or you'll create another problem. It'll be rewarding when you do get it figured out. Work on it some, walk away, come back later fresh.

I've been down that road.... have worked and worked on it... my father help me find the burnt Coil that got me here. I simply replaced the fried coil and it happened again in a matter of minutes... ok maybe 30 minutes.

I'm just ready for it to work.... I should have never let me brother store it for me :(

Does Southern Adventures have games? It's been a long time since I've been there and can't remember, but they may know a tech. Also, you could try putting a local ad on Craigslist.

have you found a solution to this problem? can you send me a copy of the wiring diagram? i might be able to point you in a direction
