Hey folks. I'm helping someone with a defender cab. This person does NOT care about original/full restoration, just wants it to be cleaner than what it is right now.

The edges are chewed up. It could use new buttons. The joystick is a little loose and probably needs to be rebuilt but in their case they want to just get new.

Can someone help me get started with this? I am a pinball guy and can do all of that work.

-Is the panel something i can replace acrylic and just drop in, or is that a piece of wood with an overlay on it?
-Where would i buy the replacement for the above
-Are the joysticks/buttons used in arcades varied or are they universal? Is there a parts manual i'd have to refer to so i can get a replacement, or do the arcade ecomm businesses have parts listed by cab like pinball?

Thanks in advance!

Hrrm... If I remember correctly the defender panel is metal. I am not sure if it has securing bolts in the corners but the buttons can easily be cleaned or replaced and as for the joy stick. If its not to loose side to side I would just clean it up.

The original control panel overlay is plastic on top of wood.

This seller also has a version with extra button for Inviso for Stargate if running a JROK board that permits running that game also.

Correct. If you have the overlay to know where to put the holes, building a new one is pretty straightforward. All you need is a drill and a router, and a couple of feet of black t-molding.

Interesting I have a couple metal ones they are in perfect condition. I am saving one for my original defender cab
@neo.00 Please post pics of these metal panels. I was not aware of them and want one!

Here are couple pics of the panels I have and I believe these are the only 2 I have. Send me a pm or email and make me an offer on one of em. Notice the left pic it does have I think is small bolts or rivets holding it on the wood.

Those are the MBCC panels. They are very cool. I have one for Stargate that adds the Inviso button.

I thought you meant metal panels with Williams art on them, so I'm not personally interested in buying one, but a good replacement for someone else with bad plexi...

Thanks for posting them!

good to know because All I knew is that they were for a defender panel
