Noob here with a WG 9200 problem

I will ask my question here instead of starting another post about the 9200 model. I currently have a line down the middle of the screen and the rest of the monitor is black. I will include a picture so you can see what I am saying. Anyways my question is, do I just need a cap kit or do I have some other sort of issue? Thanks Guys.

First do a yoke reading. Check the ohms between the red and blue wires coming from the yoke. Make sure you get something.

If it looks good, then a cap kit would be a decent start, but I'd check R462 (open?) or R424 (shorted?) first. Q413 could also be bad.

You don't usually see horizontal collapse without a complete loss of picture, but it's usually means your HOT and flyback are okay...

Thanks for the help so far. FYI I am a complete noob at working on monitor chassis. I have always sent them in for repair but figured this might be a decent time to start and save a few bucks.

Any idea what the values of R462 and R424 should be? And to test it do I need to snip one end of the resistor off the board?

I think he meant D424 (diode). as for the resister 1 OHM 1/2 WATT I believe..
You just need to know if its open...if you are unsure just unsolder one side from the board and check with an ohm meter... Please remember to discharge the flyback BEFORE you play with it!

oops! sorry I just thought because you had said shorted.. my bad
Also can you check a FET the same way as a transistor?
