Noice87's Warehouse Raid....

I'd be happy to...

Despite taking a credit hit for churning some airline cards once a year to rack up free miles, I'm well over 800.

Congrats. My ex-financial advisor said his wife and one other person are the only ones who had a 800+.

Mine isn't 800 but I am happy with it. And as I pay stuff off it should only go higher. But if I won the lottery tomorrow and paid them all off I think it would take a hit. But I wouldn't care.

THIS is what's wrong with America. People exactly like this.

Credit cards are not toys. In fact, they are not really good for anything but airline tickets, car rentals and hotels. Notice that the only credit cards successful people carry are AmEX? Because you have to pay it off IN FULL at the end of every month! It's a monthly tab, not a debt allowance.

If you can only afford to live in your family basement and eat ramen, THAT'S ALL YOU DO. You DO NOT buy things like PC's, cars, arcade machines, pets, Air Jordans, or any other useless material crap. The whole reason America is so f*cked right now is because the whole damn country has been in spend-spend-spend mode for decades with no respect for the consequences. How about this : You spend what you earn. Nothing more. If you want more - EARN more! You don't just go picking up 15 hobbies and start buying up crap on plastic.... Damn it, why does everyone have to be so goddamn stupid?! I hate humans....

P.S. I expect warehouse raid photos in a warehouse raid thread... now gimme all your minis!

AMEX is even stupider than normal cards... annual fees... no rewards on most cards... higher fees for merchants... accepted in fewer places....

You can use any card you want and pay it off every month, and reap all kinds of other benefits (airline miles, cash back, etc...)

I agree. I've looked into Amex cards, but the fees usually killed the deal. I put about $3,000 - $4,000 a month on credit cards, but it all gets paid off when the bill comes. No monthly fees and the flexibility to not have to carry a ton of cash.

Exactly on all accounts!

Of course with the new regulations the credit card/banks are looking at new ways to supplement their income - so watch all notices that come from them! My guess is they're all going to get together and "separately" decide to add yearly fees to everyone. I hope I'm wrong. That would drive me to using my debit card only.

No reason to stereotype the AMEX cards so much. They have cards with zero fees and rewards as well as cards you can carry a balance on. I use the AMEX Blue Cash as one of my primary cards.

They do charge retailers a higher discount rate for sure, that is ok to stereotype. :D

My credit score was 820 last time I looked and my wife's was 790. I think this was back in Dec of 2009.

Amex only charges me 1% for my merchant account compared to 3.2% for V,MC or Discover.

Couldnt agree more. Noice is a prime example of this.

I'm having a hard time categorizing the thread starter.

The best I can do is this: he seems like the sort of guy who would be likely to nod approvingly and take notes when an infomercial comes on...

Who gives a shit about credit score. Let's compare net worth ;)

NOw you're talking. I'm not worth anything, but my goal in life has nothing to do with a credit score, lol. Mines ruined, because I haven't borrowed any money in years and don't use credit cards. If I had 10 million sitting in the bank, my credit score would still be shit because the only thing you can use it for is going deeply into debt.

If you think about it, it's pretty crazy. If you want to go a little bit into debt, you can do that easily. If you want to go DEEPLY in debt, you have to have a good credit score.

Who the hell wants to go heavy into debt? Even for a house you can have your financials checked out and borrow on the house.

Not slamming anybody who's responsible with their credit cards, I'm just saying many people think it's a status symbol or something. It's not.

Well, just for shits and giggles I just went and checked mine. 855! I don't know how they figure these things out, but I don't owe anybody any money and don't have any balances on anything. I also don't have much money in the bank but I guess something looks good. I expect it to consistantly fall the longer I go with no credit, though.

Edit: Mine's the Vantage score, not the FICO. So not as good!

Agreed. People who have a high credit score should definitely be proud of it. It's something that requires dedication and does reflect a dedication to responsibility when it comes to money. That said... I'm a lot more concerned with my bottom line than my ability to get credit.

Credit Scores are a marketing ploy to get you to borrow more money.
Hey the better your score the more you can borrow! WOW!! Brilliant!

Same with rewards, card colors; black, gold, platinum!
Marketing has done an excellent job of making people believe that the color of plastic makes them special!

Pay off all your cards, pay cash for everything and see how quickly your credit score drops.
Why is that?? Marketing! Don't believe the HYPE!

Who do you envy more the guy who spends $5000 a month in credit and pays it off every month,
Or the guy who spends $5000 in cash every month?

THe credit companies are banking on you not to be able to pay it all back quickly. It's called interest, and it's where they make all their money!

Besides, how else can they track all your spending habits.
