No wonder I never built one of these.

For those of you who are wondering how he wasted that much money, he probably didn't. He is trying to sell it. He just wants people to think they are getting something for their money. The same psychology people use in CL ads that say "I bought this for $XXX two years ago...".

What you paid for it doesn't matter. I don't care. If I was actually going to negotiate to buy it the only two figures I care about are how much are you asking and how much am I willing to pay.

Not really looking to sell it, I would rather trade it for a pinball machine. I put the $1500 up as a unit of measure so people know how much trade value im looking for.

That being said it is worth significantly more that what I paid in materials. I did not count the extra computer and 27" monitor I already had. Not to metion I only paid about half of the cost of the decals because my friend owns a sign making shop. Still not factoring in the cost of tools and about 20hrs labor.

i mamed an old frogger last night that was converted long ago to rush n attack. i had to mount a vertical monitor in there, do all the wiring, and configure the computer. luckily the CP already had leaf switch buttons and a wico leaf switch joystick. i left those in there. i have a friend who has a computer business and he gives me old PCs for my mame projects that dont work well for newer games but are fine for playing hundreds of classics using an old version of MAME. i used an old tv i had laying around for a monitor, the cab cost $75 and the ipac interface was $50. i sold the rush n attack pcb and marquee tonight for $30, so my total cost was less than $100. my plan is to get a frogger CPO and marquee and sell it for a million dollars! seriously though, i have to do some minor cosmetic work and i'll probably ask $800 for it but be willing to take significantly less. i did put maybe 12 hours into it so far, but this thing was all hacked up. there is a local computer store i went with my friend to when he had problems with his fancy new laptop. they had a fancy MAME with all the controls and trackballs looking fantastically fugly. i mentioned i had one of those, and the nerd started talking all down to me about how "this runs MAME and has xxxx million games on it blah blah blah." i asked if it was for sale, and he gave me a haughty glare and said he would have to get at least two grand for it. i laughed, told him my cab also runs MAME but without the ugly control panel and cost me jack shit, and walked out.
