I am looking for an idea or what I should look for. My sound was working fine then I switched the board. Picture is fine but now there is no sound. I tried a third board and no sound either. I put the original board back in and I get initializing jamma video standard step 1. So now I have no way of testing my sound. Any suggestions? I have a jamma setup and there are the + and - cables going to the speaker.

Ok I started with a soul calibur working fine. Then went to capt America no sound. Then went to TMNT no sound. Then I went back to soul calibur and that's when I got the jamma standard check.

Is there an easy way to test the speaker I checked the wires. Can I put a vertical jamma board I know works and has sound into a horizontal jamma cabinet?

This is the way I test speaker and speaker wire. Touch a 9V battery to the wires going to the speaker. Every time the wires touch the battery, there should be an audible clicking sound coming from the speaker.

The same method can be used to test the speaker directly as well. Just touch the battery to the terminals on the back of the speaker.

I will try this and see. Thank you. The weird thing is the soul calibur it just keeps saying Initializing!! Jamma Video Standard Step 1.

Ok I did this and I did get the piping sounds so does this mean my speakers ok? Is there a way to check the jamma harness.

The sound means the speakers functioning.

If you have a volt meter, check the conductivity between the Jamma harness to each of the speaker wire.

Unfortuately, that about all I can help with. I'm sure a more experienced forum member will have some better answers for you.

Just an update I checked the voltage and it seemed fine. I talked with Bob Roberts and he told me to check the -5v and it turns out my harness does not have a -5.

How does a JAMMA harness not have -5v? So the harness itself has no wiring for the -5v or is it just not connected to the power supply?

Some cabs with JAMMA harnesses did not populate the -5 if the game did not require -5, and some boards need the -5 for the sound to work.

Other JAMMA boards don't output the sound on the JAMMA harness. I found that out when I swapped an Area 51 Site 4 PCB into my Lethal Enforcers...

Something just dawned on me... Have you check the volume control on the jamma board to see if they're were rolled all the way off?

I checked it with 2 different boards and nothing. I will try it out Wednesday when I get the cable from Bob Roberts hopefully that will fix it.

ITS FIXED!!!!! First I want to thank Buffett for helping me with this. It turns out the issue was with my harness. Basically I have a Franken Cab and it was rewired just enough to make the Soul Calibur work. Basically all the Grounds and all the +5 and +12 were not touching. I had to rig the harness a little bit but after I made sure they are all touching I adjusted the voltage correctly and Bam its working.

Thank you all for your help this site and the people are the best. Other sites will bash you right away not here.

I suggest buying a new harness with a hirose jamma connector and rewiring the cab. It may work now but it'll messup again since the pins already lost their tension force.
