I have this g07 that is not working. I tested the 2 fuses on the chassis and one of them was dead, so I replaced.

fired her up and still no power getting to the monitor it seems. No neck glow, no static, no flash at power on.

I don't know the history of this monitor. The guy I am repairing it for, simply said, it doesn't work.

what's the next step? I am not an experienced monitor troubleshooting guy.

oh i read that wrong, thought it said none of them was dead. Troubleshooting it without just capping it first is a waste of time imho. Probably just needs a total rebuild and with that fuse being blown could need a flyback. I am surprised the fuse didnt blow again if it blew once. If fuse f901 is blowing ( the small fuse) then you have to discharge the huge gray filter cap or you will get shocked and shocked bad. Be careful. Discharging at the anode cap isnt enough.

R901 is the big white resistor on the side of the chassis, and R902 is a smaller white resistor just to the left of the filter cap. You check them just like a fuse.

Did the fuse blow again? Which fuse was it....the "little" one?

Edward
This bigger fuse was blown, not the little one, and it did NOT blow again when I tried to run power to it.

thanks bud, I will get on that.

Check the B+.....I bet it's going into high voltage shut-down.

Edward

I have heard this discussed, but know nothing about B+.

I checked the r901 or 902 the big one on the top left of the chassis.
oddball readings. If I read it like I read a fuse I would call it blown.

now the bottom fuse is blown I just noticed. c902 I think.

thats the same fuse that blew the first time isnt it ? Its f902.

no, this fuse was good the first time.

901 blew

and when I say first time, that means, when I brought home the dead monitor.
I tested the fuses at that point, and 901 was dead 902 was good.

If F901 was blown, most likely you have a blown HOT at a minimum. It is also a safe bet if the fly is original it is shot too. You are definitely at the point of needing to do the deluxe super kit from Bob.

I do have a g07 cap kit, but sounds like I need a deluxe.

I really don't mind giving this guy a recapped k4900 to get his game going, but I kind of dread looking at the massively burned centipede for whatever game I use this monitor in, since I will be keeping this one if I give him the other.

It all hinges on if that centipede board shows up tomorrow or not. Now I hope not. Then I hvae an extra week before I go to his place. And I will have the opportunity to either get this one fixed or make a chassis swap.

Off to bob's site.
thanks

I just shotgunned a g07 that had a blown 901 with that kit and it worked like a charm. Well, except for the b+ being hard to adjust because the pot was all screwy.
