No more games this year

I feel like I'm at an anon meeting...

"Hi, my name is Jawhn, and... and..."

(Crowd, in unison) "Say it, Jawhn. Be strong. We're all here for you."

* Sigh *

didn't you already fall off the wagon? no one really trusts that you to lay off or keep to your pledge.

One day at a time my man. One day at a time. But yes, I spent $40 so far since I started this thread. But....I didn't call this guy so that's progress I think. But man I'd love to have a nice laser game.

I'm trying to break the habit and I need you guys to help. I'm going to attempt to purchase exactly ZERO games for the rest of this year. Please shame me if I fall off the wagon.

Parts and bits to complete current projects don't count.

Thank you.

30 days??? aww man, that's tough.
Just don't go near a Tilt...
I've bought 4 more machines since I was "finished" with my TAF finale....
That was only a month ago :D

Now on a positive note, I got $2K in multi's going out for Christmas!!

I didn't think that it was the money but the projects and space against family and priorities.
In that sense it's not $40 but actually two games. Personally I really don't care but you make a big deal about it with a "shame me if I fail" and then you fall off with a 2 game purchase.... whatever...

Actually I started the thread near the beginning of October so it's more than 30 days. But yeah, as mentioned I fell off the wagon and picked up a Asteroids Deluxe, Rip Off and Omega Race.

Yes, I have a weakness for vectors. Thank you for doing what I asked and beating me up about this. It's helping me out a lot. 'preciate it!

Nope. Never even called on it. See how much better I am? Wait, are you saying I was butt-hurt or that Mr. P was BH?

So anyone wanting to sell a game near you should hold off until January? Are you going to go on a shopping spree then?

You should grab it anyway, you already broke your vow...what difference does another game make?

I called. No answer.

That's a smoking deal on that Space Ace.

Never mind my last post. I'm not gonna step on toes. Hope you get it That Guy. My Space Ace will come along soon enough :)

Who did I quote?

I like both ThatGuy and 30fathom. Having said that, Dave, ThatGuy is already in CA, and you really don't need that dumb game. You don't.

I don't know if it's dumb exactly, but if anything it's a "twitch" game.

Of the laser games this was the only one I was really into back in the glory days and I played it until I mastered it, which didn't take very long. Then there was no reason to play it again. That was the problem with these games. There was no fun in playing it over and over, there was no challenge, no test whatsoever. At least for me.

It's listed at $300 and looks pretty nice. I know there are multiple klove folks chasing it....of which I am, unfortunately, not one :)

And to answer someone elses question....no, I'm not planning on going on some big spurge after the new year. The goal was to reduce the number I buy overall and it's really a long-term goal. But having said that, I'm still likely to buy some games during the next year. Just...well, less games. I think.

If space is the issue, why not buy a horizontal/vertical JAMMA and buy gameboards for it? That way you can still have new games but not feel guilty about hauling another 300 lb beast into your life.

I have 2 Mame cabs (well only one fully working at the moment) that are horizontal and a vertical game with an ArcadeSD card in it so that fills that need. I've never been fond of swapping control panels and pcb's. I want to just power on the game room and have it ready to go with everything available to whoever is there. But most games that I'd like to have suck in Mame.
