No more "Gameroom Magazine"

A blog could replace GameRoom? That simple? Let me know when you get that up and running...oh, and when it's successful.

I'm pretty sure Kevin's subscribers wanted something physical to hold in their hands as opposed to something on a blog. If it was that simple to retain subscribers w/out all the overhead, he would've done it already.

Most of us can't read a blog while we're sitting on the can... and that is where my gameroom mags were read...exclusively.

+1. A blog with really good editorial control could replace Gameroom mag. As someone else said, there's enough content on these forums to drive it; we just need someone to aggregate it, fix all the typos and push it out on WordPress or BlogSpot.

John

Or you could just read the forum days or weeks sooner with the typo's in?
Am I missing the point completely? I don't understand the appeal of that idea at all.

We already have an arcade blog... Rothe Blog...

...plus ArcRevival has his own little restoration blog...

...plus the countless other restoration blogs... etc.

What sucks is I got an email from them right after it was posted you couldn't renew stating that it was a glitch and that the subscription link was working again. Since my subscription was up in Oct. I believed their BS and resubscribed for 2 years!

That is total BS. This guy should be refunded. No question on that.
Now that I think about it, I was considering doing 2 years too when I reupped...not sure why I didn't, but I sure am glad now.
That really sucks, I hope you do get a refund 1badv6...

Yep just looked at my records and it was Nov 3 when I Resubscribed. Disappointed. Not for the loss of money but for the loss of a great mag.

Ouch... wonder how many more are on the hook for 2 years.

I guess we all should look at it that we are getting an $X discount off of the $99 bucks for the 20th anniversary collection... some are just getting a much better discount than others... Though, I doubt that is going to make anyone feel better about it.

Oh well, still really sucks to see the magazine go, I really did look forward to getting my copy every month.

I know for a fact that Kevin tried REAL REAL REAL hard to sell the magazine and even had someone interested right up until last week when the interested party exhausted all options as far as financing is concerned.

If there are any writers/publishers here interested, I am sure Kevin would be willing to hear from you. The investment isn't that much, and I even CONSIDERED it for a half second... but I am not a writer/editor... and frankly, you're not going to make much profit from it... it's more a labor of love.

If he's not returning people's subscription money he must be in the hole financially, and possibly going through bankruptcy. It's not a feasible business to publish a magazine like that anymore. It's not coming back. If anything he should have gone on-line only a while ago.

Just got done reading about this and wondering were my Gameroom magazine wasn't in the mailbox this month? Sad to see it go,I been subscribing for 3 years now but noticed the mag was getting really thin each month but man really? R.I.P.
