Replace your batteries in the back box and after that you will have to go into menu and set your settings like free play etc.

i though it was that so i did change the batteries with new ones but still does it. Might just wait a bit before i try it again.

i cant think of anything else as its been fine then just started doing that. nothing else has issues. plays fine no issues.

The volatile RAM (if power is lost even for a split second, the data is lost) on the CPU board is not getting power.

The batteries must be fresh, and there must be good electrical continuity from the batteries, through the PCB-mounted battery holder, through the traces on the board, to the RAM chip.

This is failing at some point.

Take the batteries back out and with a bright light carefully inspect the battery holder and the surrounding area on the board, particularly below the holder. Look for corrosion from previously leaking batteries, especially. This will look like white or blue-green crusty residue. This would be bad, but can be dealt with.

Where the battery holder is soldered to the board may also have cracked solder joints. This is hard to see from the top of the board.

Report back on what you find.
