I purchased what appeared to be a Vs board with the RBI board attached. When I received it the card was dislodged and the pins bent to high hell. Most at 90 degree angles. I have painstakingly straighten them out the best I could. Yet I can not get it to connect to the VS. board and I am not putting a lot of effort into it in case the unbent pins snap due to fragility.

How much effort is to be made to install the board on the VS Board?
Any methods to straighten the pins? I used a pocket knife & fliers to flatten out 90 degree bent pins
Is the card a lost cause?

Thanks

In my experience, VS daughtercard pins are some of the more robust pins in IC land :) Quite thick and just soft enough for slow rebends. They're probably just fine.

A good bit of effort has to be put into their installation, since they are on the thick side. Just be sure all pins are aligned properly before leaning into it - which you will have to. Yes, a good bit of force indeed. Try tilting the card a bit to one side at first so you can begin inserting one row of pins straight away.

Did my best straightening out all the pins. When I apply pressure the horrible bent pins dont slide in easily and rebend.

Very frustrating.

You could just cut them to a nice length and solder the card onto some sockets. That is what I would do if it was mine.

Those daughter boards are a pain even when they are flat since they are so thick.

Can I cut them and not solder and still work? Some were bent halfway down at a 90 degree angle. So those pose the largest problem. If I can clip all the pins halfway then that should work.
