I have a nintendo VS cab, was a donky kong. was playing it today and the monitor cut off and the game played blind. Before that happened I noticed the monitor would do weird things when the game switched levels. it was really subtle but it's like it would cut out for a split second. I don't remember it doing that in the past. if I turn the machine on now it comes up like normal but the monitor will turn off after a few minutes. I have yet to try a different VS board so that's an easy test I could do. any ideas? maybe something is wrong with the power supply? the marquee light stays on. thanks for any suggestions.

There could many problems you gotta be a little more specific, check your power supply for correct voltages. Then if its your monitor, first you can start out with a cap kit, or it could possibly be your fly back, faulty diodes, transistors, it will help out a lot if you get the model number of your monitor.

that's what I was afraid of. I don't know if I'm up for figuring this out. i'll check the model # tonight. this got me thinking maybe I should just basterdize this cabinet like I have with all my other ones so it will play more games.

anyone tried these VS carts that play in a NES?

I'm thinking I'll just pull all the nintendo hardware/monitor out of the cab, sell that stuff along with all my VS pcbs. mount a 19" CRT TV in the cab and hook up a good old NES to it, hack some NES pads to hook them up to the controls, add a select button for both players somewhere. then BAM i open up the entire nes library and can still play VS super mario and a few other VS games if I get those carts and I'm thinking i won't really even be able to tell the difference. plus if something messes up all the components are cheap and easy to fix.

I'm going to try out that VS super mario cart, if it plays just like the vs super mario arcade then i think i'll go for it. i'm a gamer first and an arcade purist second for sure. and how awesome will it be having stuff like contra and double dragon 2 available by just tossing in a cartridge?
