I have a nintendo vs 2 player upright i added a light gun to it is there a way to hook up the gun and still have both joysticks working also so u dont have to keep switching connectors i tried wiring both connectors together gun games seem to work fine but when i play gradius the ship goes up by itself did these vs come with a different harness to do this

when a vs was set up for a gun game, that is all it was setup to do. if you wanted to play a non gun game then you would remove the gun items and put the joystick back in. that is how they would have done it in the arcade.

i was kinda hoping someone found away around having to do that and just rewire it im close but may take some time if that is possible

What if you got an old switcher, like one for serial cables and use that to go back & forth. I've thought of trying it.

That should work just fine. All the ones I have seen are simply a mechanical switch. I think there are a couple of these in our storage room at work, I need to snag those before someone tosses them.

That is a good idea i will try that if i cant get hard wired in,to switch between games i just unplug one board to another thanks for all your ideas keep em comin

How do you switch between games?

There's this board which I've been planning to try out from Cambridge Arcade:

And Mike's Arcade, I thought, was looking at releasing a multi-Nintendo switcher talked about here:

As far as switching the controls, not only have I thought that an old serial switch could do the trick, but I was wondering if it'd be possible to take the input from an original Nintendo controller port and convert it to the multi-wire configuration of the VS. Control panel. That way, you could maybe just plug a light gun in and switch over to that.

there are 3 wires that become a ground when you have the gun hooked up. All 3 are not grounds with the buttons and joysticks. So i would think the only way to use both gun and buttons, would be to have a disconnect for the gun. basically like a 9 pin d-sub you could mount on the cabinet somewhere, so you could pull the gun connection.

yea i tried that its the orange plug w/2 wires one of them is jumped across and that works fine once unplugged so far thats the easiest way im trying to figure out what can be changed in that plug wire wise
