Does anyone know where to get RP2A03 CPU's ? I ordered some from Mikes and they're a different clock speed RP2A03H and will not work on VS boards.
I called them and they didn't know where to find them, and the "H" is what he received last time he ordered them.

They said they knew they worked on DKIII but that's as much testing as they have done.

Mine from Mikes work great!!

What is the part number ? I just ordered these last week and tried them today and they don't work. I bought four, I called Mikes and they confirm they might have an issue not working on VS boards with the 03H like I was sent.

The H is just a revision of the CPU. It doesn't have anything to do with clock speed.

Why did Mike's say there might be an issue?

Got me, I called and asked if something was wrong with them or if they had problems and that's what I was told, verbatim.

I know fist hand they don't work, but as to why other than what I was told I'm clueless, I tried them on two known working boards and two different games.

That's kinda why we have been trying to look into this further....
"Revision" typically means there was a change.... changed "what" though ?
Because they obviously aren't working on these MDS boards, but the original RP2A03 does.

I used to have a page on the revisions, but offhand they fixed things with the sound and some other things. Nothing that I would of thought would be a problem on the Vs system. If there is a problem with it, we should be able to find a solution to allow them to work as the H revision has been used in the NES and the Vs. isn't that different.

I still have it, let me know what you suggest.

ill try and check tomorrow, but i will say i have had different cpus work better with different boards...

Well if it was me, I'd first put the 2A03H in a Playchoice or some other PCB that uses the 2A03 and make sure it works. Then I'd go from there.

I would do the same thing but these are the only two boards I have that use a 2A03, and I don't know, but it seems like four of them being bad would be crazy.

Wish I had my rig setup to test my revision H chips. I'd be more inclined to believe he got a bad batch of chips in then that they won't work with Vs. games.

I have about 20 NES units that have been parted out... I just need to test the chips and put 'em in inventory.

Don't worry... they were scrapped by someone else. I just bought the boards for parts. ;)
