Nintendo vs ( blue tent )

here are pics, Untouched this is my new project...Hopefully I can find a place to refurb both monitors to look new (if that is possible)...First task get keys to open it up, check pcb and monitors

neo big red tall

just thought id post some pics of my neo that was not suppose to be working. I just adjusted and jiggled the carts a little. I am going to take pcb out and apart clean the connectors on it as well as carts and see what happens. The sides of it are perfect. I am happy with this buy, this makes my third big red over the years.

just talked to an arcade vending owner operator been in business for 50 years (talked to his son been doing it for 25) he said he would redo the monitors or any monitor for 75 each. Is that fair? he is located about 30 minutes from me.

Depends on what is wrong with them I suppose. If they just do a cap kit its pretty steep, but if there are other problems its probably fair.

go for it! you're right there. you might be able to find someone cheaper but by the time you ship them back and forth plus repairs you'll be WELL over 150.00!!

Man I hate to go visit him they have two warehouses each one taking up s whole corner street stuffed full of arcade machines. And I still want , super pacman and bump n jump lol. And crazy kong etc etc lol

Neo Geo for Playchoice 10

Neo-Geo----Got the board, monitor and insides cleaned. Looks pretty in there, monitor is perfect, games are still fidgety about where they wanna be stuck to work better. Just need to clean outside. Sand and paint the black on control panel, take buttons and controllers off clean them and it will be done. if there is anyone out there with maybe a playchoice 10 I want one of them also....maybe do a trade if playchoice is in good shape and dedicated. Just want more games the kids can play and enjoy. I have had three neo's.. I still haven't git my playchoice 10....and for the record this is the nicest neo-geo I have seen or owned. So if u want a big red and got a playchoice 10 would love to talk to ya.

Omg, had the guy at the vending place be nice enough to send me a key for the red tent fir free I get the envelope in mail today. Post office has a stamp saying damaged due to contents. My key is gone sob stupid post office. They saud it must have got caught in the machine but it's stamped so it shouldn't have went through it. So envelope is mangled end is opened key is gone . Ughhh

I sent a token in an envelope and the same thing happened. Got to put them in padded envelopes.

well i opened it up, got goonies working super mario is dead. I switched the games around super mario still dead..When i put mario on the good monitor side the screen just stays black> after a click.. So the other monitor got unplugged but its prolly to late due to the line going down center of screen its burnt in..

so is the monitor with the line,,,,

When you swapped the Mario to the other side, did you leave the two CPUs in? Super Mario Bros requires both CPUs installed

And Goonies is a daughter card, so the CPU is on it. When you pull the card, you loose a CPU.

Yep I put all chips from one side to other in correct spots, also stuck goonies on side where mario was. When I turn on machine there is click, sounds like a switch kicking and the monitor goes black... I take out Mario chips swap goonies and Mario back and goonies cones back up. Is it normal for a set of chips to go bad?

Sometimes the clicking can be caused when a chip may be installed backward and the coin counter just goes up.

It's not too common, but yeah, chips can go bad.

Just make sure you have them all in the right spots and directions.

If I recall correctly SMB will only live on one side of the board. It's the side populated in a single headed vs...right I believe. If its by itself you put the 'extra processor' in the opposite socket. If its in a dual setup, like yours, you populate the processor socket with a standard processor. Look online for the one sheet install guide that came in the SMB kit. It looks like all the others at first glance but actually spells this out. I ran into it a couple of years ago when I wanted SMB on the other side of a board.

That line shouldn't be too noticeable through tinted plexi, once you get the horizontal deflection fixed it should be OK, and you can replace the tube at a later date if it bothers you.
