I'm picking this up Saturday. It's been in a ice rink since purchased new. Been sitting in this lonely corner spot for years. It's never been painted I have talked to the owner he says it came this way when he purchased it. It's never been touched other than to remove the money. The game room section at the rink became a spit where they store things. And has been like this for 3-4 years. All machines were purchased new at the same time. Anyone have any info on a ( blue tent ) ? I can't find any...

If that is original I would say its very rare. I have never seen one. What is the serial #?

Maybe it was a special edition for an ice rink. :)

I'll put serials on here theis weekend I'm not picking it up til tomorrow. Big question is if I restore it I will have to paint it again. There probably will nit be a problem matching the paint color. But....if I paint it people will be like WTF why did u paInt a red tent blue. And if it is rare or something will that make the value be less by painting it, I would them have no proof it was original blue?

Have you looked inside for any signs that it may have started life "red"?
If it's really a blue one from the factory thats pretty cool, your going to be the only member of the blue tent registry.:)

If you have the keys, open up both hoods and look for paint lines inside. Just like looking at the door jambs on a car thats been repainted. If there are none, a factory blue tent is pretty wild. If you can found a white tent, then you would be a true arcade patriot.

I saw a blue one (same as this one) here once in my city also. They might be rare but there must of been some in blue for some reason.

Personally I don't think you've got much to worry about if you paint it, as I doubt anyone else is going to think the owner's word is "proof" anyway, but it would be neat to know the history of it and if that is actually "factory original." If I were a betting man, I'd put my money on painted blue at some point and the owner doesn't know/gave you the story to the best of his recollection, but I would love to be proven wrong.

Well now I'm totally wanting to get this thing and the rest if the story. The guy doesn't know much about anything arcade other than he bought these machInes brand new sut them in the ice arena he has owned for over 20 years. I can't act to interested in the color till after I load it up. Then I will question what's up with it. Hell it may have books etc in it he said that once one side stopped working right they slid it closer to the wall to keep people from the side that didnt work I dont even think it's ever been opened ( unless you open the top for money . I am now on a mission lol

Did you guys click on the picture (watch it in large size) ?

I can see darkish spots on the top.....looks like the red is coming through....

But the pic is terrible quality so hard to tell if it's the bad picture or it's really like that...

Just a quick note, if one side isn't working, I had the same problem on my redtent.

The AA batteries leaked acid onto the board, and caused the other side to turn on but not register any input.

A new PCB fixed it all up.

That looks like rust starting to show through...and that blue matches the dark blue Nintendo buttons that are out there.

Oh it's been opened... the A B buttons looks like they've been switched. I'd love to find out if this is true or not, but the last time i came across a blue red tent it was definitely painted! good luck though!

It will definitely be interesting to see....really hard to judge by that pic.
