Nintendo Vs. Bezel Project

Bleh, after I saw the Vs Pinball Marquee I realized that my idea for a bezel would look like crap. I was going to use the artwork from NES box and the GBA Ecard. I would have to make a matching marquee, as the real vs pinball marquee is a photo of a pinball machine with DKjr on the bumper:

Interesting that they used the artwork from the Game and Watch DK Jr on Vs Pinball?!?

I emailed Rich both the Dr. Mario and Super Mario bezel .ai files. I haven't heard back from him yet, but I have no reason to believe he doesn't have them now. I began work on the Castlevania bezel last night, but went to bed with a migraine before I got past the layout stages. I think I will be staying true to the marquee, just like all the other Nintendo arcade art packages. Using the sweet topper artwork or NES cartridge artwork may sound great at first, but if you wanna stay in the Nintendo style, you match the marquee artwork. The goal is to make these bezels look like they were produced at the factory, not like they were graphic design projects put together by Nintendo fan boys 25 years later.

just want to be sure theyll work ok first

Why not CPO and sideart? I would have to hunt down a VS Dr Mario kit if you did a CPO and sideart.

Because most people put their games side by side. Also, because bezels are seen from the front AND removable, side art is not. This way you can 'dedicate' a cabinet to Vs. game, but still change it out to a different vs. game by replacing the marquee, bezel and chipset. Designing a CPO would be do-able, as you could get several beat DK3 or Vs. panels, strip the overlays, design and install a different vs. CPO on each one and then swap the CPs themselves out. I wouldn't see that as necessary, but it could be done.

I never did get around to this. If anyone is interested in an Excitebike and/or RBI Baseball bezel- please send me some art. I can't seem to locate it anywhere.

How about something like this for the Castlevania bezel?

This is just a rough first start

This is my idea of a vs. Castlevania bezel:

In the same style as the marquee with a few embellishments. This is what I've envisioned since I decided to do this. I just have to tweak it and clean it up a little more and I'll be happy.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck yes.

Now there's the correct answer. These could even be screened. Red, black, white, purple. Exact same colors as the marquee. I am thinking of putting something in the lower left corner, not sure what though. These could go into production within a few weeks if they are done in solvent ink jet, months if screened.

Fuuuuuuck yes. It looks great. Quick question, what is the cleanest and best looking way to affix the printed bezels?

Cool! Reminds me of the artwork on Grave Digger.

You have a HUGE Nintendo logo, where is the Konami one? Also it would be cool if you could include the Dracula and Simon from the NES box art:

You are stretching the tombstone on the window and the corners all stretched. N00b. Should redo that. :D Not sure about the cross on the top. Is that PC? :D

I like the idea, though. Cool. Needs a character on it?

Just peel and stick them to the front of the bezel plexi. Dishsoap/water method works well on these. Just a misting. It would be nice if they could be screened to the front of new tinted plexi bezels like the classic Nintendos.

Oh, so you had the Dr. Mario printed on adhesive vinyl. Thought you might have had it just printed on photo paper.
