Nintendo Vs. Bezel Project

Really? The marquee isn't all that different in style:

Seems like this bezel would fit right in.

Hmm, didn't realize the Mario graphic actually IS a pull from the marquee. I guess we can blame Nintendo for fagging that up. Given that, it may be a close match or fit for the marquee, but it still looks out of place on a 1980's arcade machine. Frankly, so does the marquee artwork for that matter. So not 8-bit, more like 64-bit. I think they all fade away to hide their shame :p

If someone came up with a VS Castlevania Bezel, that would be sweet and I would most likely buy it.
I would suggest they use the colors that are in the Marquee - Purple, Red, Black and White.

I'd like to do a Multi Vs. bezel and marquee...

Multi eh? Hmmmmmm, wonder how that'd turn out? Nice idea. I was trying to make each game feel special by giving it it's own dedicated artwork but I guess the Socialistic approach would work too.

I like the dedicated idea for sure for the games people keep in their vs. cabs for long periods of time, like Castlevania. Maybe a multi bezel and then change the marquee when you change pcbs for people who own the more common pcbs?

Me! Me!

"Might" you say? Just do it you bastard. I am gonna start on old Castlevania tonight. Someone needs to do a Vs. Pinball one. I'd actually dedicate an upright to that game.

OMG! I want to do the Vs Pinball! I love that game! Since I don't own a Vs Cabinet, what are the dimensions of a Ninty bezel?

Edit: Even better than an upright, A standing cocktail would be cool, with side buttons. Not very Nintendo. But please give me the inner window and outer dimensions of a bezel.

Yep, I thought of that cocktail idea as well, with the A and B buttons on the side of the cabinet too. As to the dims, just use a Popeye bezel as a guide. That's what I did. It'll be a while til I get back home to give them out.

I don't have a Popeye bezel to use either. I will wait until you can give me dimensions.

Outside dims are roughly 22.75 wide, 20.5 high, I make them a little bigger that they have to be, bleed the edges a bit and trim to size after printing. Obviously you don't want any vital imagery on the outside edges. You can figure the inside dims when you set it up. You kinda have to wing it, especially if you have organic shapes bleeding into the monitor opening.

I'm not artistic (probably closer to autistic), so I would love someone to tackle Vs. Castlevania. I have it for my red tent, but it will probably get a dedicated machine eventually...

maybe something with this art, simon in the lower left and dracula in the upper right, color fade on the sides with bats or something?

Now, there was a thread posted in the restoration section that is really getting zero attention anymore, so I thought I'd start a new one to see if there is any interest. Has anyone (besides me) actually designed a custom Vs. Bezel for one of your Nintendo Vs. machines? I've so far done Super Mario Bros and Dr. Mario. I started cleaning my old illustrator files up the other night and realized that I would love to finally design another one. My choice is still gonna be Castlevania, but there are several games which are still devoid and deserving. Excitebike, Ice Climber, vs. Pinball, Tetris, Skate Kid Bros, etc. We should really have a Vs. Bezel design contest. Choose a game and design a bezel for it. Say you have 30 days to submit an entry. Anyone in? I recently tweaked and cleaned up my first edition Dr. Mario bezel and am much happier with this version:

Is there anyone printing this ? I'd love to have one :)

I envisioned this looking like the finished product. It's the exact photo used on the original topper, that came in the Vs kit. It would be bad-ass, T!
