Now, there was a thread posted in the restoration section that is really getting zero attention anymore, so I thought I'd start a new one to see if there is any interest. Has anyone (besides me) actually designed a custom Vs. Bezel for one of your Nintendo Vs. machines? I've so far done Super Mario Bros and Dr. Mario. I started cleaning my old illustrator files up the other night and realized that I would love to finally design another one. My choice is still gonna be Castlevania, but there are several games which are still devoid and deserving. Excitebike, Ice Climber, vs. Pinball, Tetris, Skate Kid Bros, etc. We should really have a Vs. Bezel design contest. Choose a game and design a bezel for it. Say you have 30 days to submit an entry. Anyone in? I recently tweaked and cleaned up my first edition Dr. Mario bezel and am much happier with this version:

The Vs. Castlevania is THE game I wish someone would put together. A dedicated bezel and control panel overlay would help capture the feel of the monumental game. Probably help collectors justify the price they usually have to fork out for that little board too.

I always loved your Dr. Mario bezel. I'm not a Castlevania fan, but Excitebike definitely deserves one. My vs. cab might get an RBI Baseball bezel treatment...

"Might" you say? Just do it you bastard. I am gonna start on old Castlevania tonight. Someone needs to do a Vs. Pinball one. I'd actually dedicate an upright to that game.

Look at you Mr. AllTheTimeInTheWorld! I don't even know if there is RBI art out there and I'm too busy to scan my marquee.

Busy doing what? Whacking the weasel? Collecting thimbles? Tending a garden? Watching Cartoons? Line dancing? Screwing the pooch?

Fuck dude, the last part of the 80's is over 21 years ago already. The clock is ticking. Let's get a move on before we're too old to care.

i was gonna start on one for the hogans alley i'm putting together. i think i might do a cpo as well. the vs one is just so boring. who knows? maybe even side art down the line......

I still have my Goonies kit (daughtercard, marquee, topper, CP, bezel) if I ever want to make a Goonies cab again. It would be sweet if I (or someone) could make a custom bezel for it. Hmm...shall I attempt?

I have a Vs. Castlevania. It is in a Midway cab (wish it was in a DK JR. cab).
I would LOVE to have a cool Bezel.
I thought about using a Black Tiger bezel, as it has Skeletons and a guy with a Mace Whip... but it would not be a TRUE castlevania.
It would be nice if the bezel was of the COVER of the game with Simon in front of the Castle.

If you ever want to sell that kit, let me know. I am looking for one.

I really like the Dr. Mario one and always thought it looked very original in style. Not sure I like the addition of the white in the border squares, takes away from the blend into the marquee, imo.

The SMB one however, I think looks a little too "cartoony." Being made with generic art pieces instead of actual VS/Nintendo art segments makes it not fit very well, imo. The Mario and Luigi graphics are what called out to me first, but the stars and fancy effects also look out of place and too modern.

This is a cool idea and hopefully some nice original-looking others will come of this. Castlevania, RBI, SMB, Ice Climber, Gradius, and Goonies all deserve psuedo-dedicated artwork love.

Really? The marquee isn't all that different in style:

Seems like this bezel would fit right in.

Really? Well you know, I never really shored up all of the details until now. You want the new file? You can print me one of those if'n you want. Some other dude wanted me to send you the SMB bezel file too. Didn't I send that one to you ever?
