Nintendo Vs. Artwork Project

Wow!! So much to comment on.

@OTT, I hear you about the Tent. It takes up a lot of space. You really have to have somewhere for it and your layout for your future arcade looks pretty sweet!! You even know what games you want in there!!! And thanks for putting it in an easy to print format!

@Jess, what are those on top of your red tent! Those are awesome!

@Raik, i have never seen that flyer before. I am sure it will come out as awesome as the balloon fight one though!

No kidding :crying:

I played it for about an hour today while the kids played on the MAME rig. Damn, I will miss it. But, like I said, I will have one again some day. Here's a sketchup idea for the future game room build out (with red tent strategically placed). Wifey is weakening on the build out...

Is that a private viewing booth in the right hand corner, with the dividing wall?!? :dontknow: :)
Seriously, what is that game?

Seeing this pic, alone, makes it all worth it!

I'd like to thank the following:

Blkdog7: For taking the time to make Balloon Fight a reality, for all to enjoy!
Without your insistance, none of this would be possible. I love you man! *awkward*

Steph: For burning the original eproms and your quality work!
Bongo: For starting the marquee, for the Upright!
Eseyo: For starting the translation of the original instruction card!
Raikus: For getting this project rolling and the ideas you had in AI!
OTT: For making the killer card that we see in the RT! It rocks!
Lilman573: For hooking everyone up with burning roms!
2600: For offering all sorts of Vs insight!

I really enjoy this hobby and everyone involved. I love the little Nintendo fanbase, we have here. Everyone is very cool to work with. We all share good ideas and help each other with parts we all need.

It's funny, when I started this hobby, it reminded me of an old Gene Simmons interview I saw. He said, "When I was a teenager, I thought I was the only kid, in the world, who wrote music and lyrics. I don't know why, I just did". When I started collecting Nintendo arcade items, I felt the same way! So, it's cool to know there are other addicts out there! ;)

They are from Japan. They are these little pixel toys called .S (dot S). It basically comes with panels and colored pegs and you just follow the provided pattern. I have the sets for SMB, Zelda and Balloon Fight. I got them on ebay.

Busy weekend so I didn't get to finish much on Wrecking Crew, but I did knock out a Star Luster logo (based on the title screen logo). First post updated with AI link.

I managed to track down an original Vs. Soccer to add to the project database. A KLOVer here was nice enough to send it to me and I'll be updating the front page shortly with a 600dpi PDF scan of the card for anyone who wants to reproduce it.

Current art projects I'm working on are Wrecking Crew and Star Luster. Should be able to finish them by next week (work deadline all this week/weekend). I'll be starting on Clu Clu Land and Ninja Jajamaru Kun after that so if anyone has decent artwork (outside of the Arcade Flyers database) please let me know. Note, these are artwork components only (like logo and box/flyer art) not composition of the instruction card. Feel free to use the pieces as you see fit!

what about the topper//banner//header that are also hard to find for some games.

eg I can provide HR scans of the following 2 items.

If you can scan them and upload them I'll post a link to the first post with the material. If you need me to host the files I can, just send them to me at my screen name @ gmail.

Here are the Mario and Luigi reproductions from the back page of Vs. Wrecking Crew flyer. Trying to match the paint brush/watercolor look took a little time. Still working on the front but it's a bit more intensive. These may work better for an instruction card anyhow.

Updating first post with link to AI artwork.

I was really hoping this would lead to a Balloon Fight Marquee, but I think I am greatly outnumbered by Red Tent owners.

The instruction card is unbelievable. Very cool!

I have little to no experience working with Photoshop, do you guys think it would be difficult to use the files posted here to create a marquee? Anybody started one that just needs finishing, something they can post on here?

I think we have all the elements to make the marquee; or if we don't then we'd be able to make what was missing. The problem I have with it is that I can't find a high enough quality image to be able to place artwork/match colors. Do you have something like that? If so, send it to me and I'll see what I can do.
