When I first got into this hobby a couple years ago I started with a Donkey Kong since that was my favorite game. I then wanted to play DKJr so I purchased a boardset so I could plug it into my DK and play it. I thought it would be awesome to have a switcher in there to switch between both boardsets without pulling the cab and doing it manually. I got a DKJr cab so I had both and left it at that.

Recently I've gotten into Pins and wanted to downsize my vids which left the DKJr on the chopping block. Now I'm back to a DKjr boardset that I have to pull the cab and swap.

What are my options to play both in the same cab?

1.Do what I do now - pain in the arse
2.Double DK - I prefer the original DK sounds and I have a D2K kit on my DK boardset
3.Multiboard with all games off but the DK stuff. - Lose D2k, gain DK3 but sounds are off and it lack the "feel" of the original boardsets.
4.MAME - Not in this DK cab!
5.Build a switcher to run both games - HERE'S AN IDEA!

If I want to use a switcher there are options there too.

1.Build my own switcher - I'm no electrical engineer so that's out.
2.Build a switcher out of a printer serial switch. - OK I guess but you still have to open the coin door and switch games and it seems it would be a pain dealing with all the little tiny wires.
3.Use a Jamma switcher and make adapters - This is the route I've chosen.

I've held off until now. Jammaboards.com has a 2-1 jamma switcher for $50 that looks like it will do the trick. I ordered one today and started building adapter cables.

In my personal DK, I have the original harness which I will remove and save in case I want it back to stock. I have built 2 adapter cables that will plug onto my DK and DK junior edge connectors and plug into the jamma switcher on the other end. I will then build a jamma harness to go into the cab like the Dokert/Flagg nintendo harness I've been building just with a jamma edge connector instead of a nintendo edge connector.

Hopefully I'll have the switcher next week and get some testing going and see how it works out.

I'll post some progress pics as I go. - Barry

Harness and Adapter harnesses made. this will be plug and play into the DK cab utilizing a pp7b power supply. While I'm waiting for the switcher to show up I just have to make brackets to hold both boardsets side by side without permanently modifying anything. - Barry

1.- adapter harness Nintendo Edge to Jamma
2.- Jammatized to Nintendo cab harness
