I've found a Nintendo Super System for $100 but the monitor doesn't work, I've been searching a while but it doesn't seem like a very common cabinet. I've been wondering how I could repair/replace this.

Thanks for helping a newbie.

The cabinet is fairly rare but the monitor is likely pretty common. Most of the monitors used in arcade cabs have a pretty good history of what parts fail, so if you want to fix it yourself then help can be provided. There are also a few people who you can send monitor chassis to in order to get them repaired, like Chad at The Arcade Cup.

I don't have the machine yet but I've done a lot of searching and so far I can't even find what monitor it uses.

Chances are the machine used whatever monitor the manufacturer could get for the cheapest price at the time. many machines used many different monitors throughout their run. I'd guess it is a WG K7000 series because those are common in cabinets of that time.

Does the cabinet actually look like this...

The reason I ask is because the Super System was also sold as a kit to be installed in any cabinet. I know this because I have a kit that was never installed. So... in my mind... it could be in any cabinet which means it would likely work with any arcade monitor.

It is in the nintendo cabinet, and after some research I found that it has a 25" monitor but im not positive, can anyone confirm this?

Also how would I get a monitor for a decent price?

Thanks, sorry for the noobiness :3

Was this one bought in Oklahoma by chance ?
There was one here recently for sale that I almost grabbed, but never heard back from the guy.

Ron... my kit doesn't actually have a control panel with it. It has a pair of giant SNES controllers, a wire harness, the PCB, artwork and a couple of games.

It was my impression that I could basically install it in any cabinet.

They're not huge.. but they are maybe twice the size of actual SNES controllers. You can look at the cabinet images on KLOV and see the controllers attached to the control panel... judge their size that way.

The kit is buried in my garage somewhere so I can't get at mine right now.
