Nintendo Streaming Press Conference on New Console at 9:00 am PST (6/7/11)?

Yeah, I'm hoping that massive controller is lightweight. I wonder if it can double as a handheld. Download VC games to it and take it on the go.

I'm glad that the WiiU will be backward compatible. I'm curious to see how they'll do 3DS connectivity to it.

I'm definitely looking forward to the new Mario games.

Nope. They said that it's not meant to be used as a portable gaming system. Perhaps it can be hacked to be one, however.

I see. Yeah, I haven't had time to watch or read into the details, but that's unfortunate. It would have been cool to add that feature to it, but I guess they don't want to compete with themselves and reduce their existing handheld sales.

I don't know how I feel about this thing. Then again, we've been saying that since the N64 and I've been pleased with each concept in the end. This is the first time I've questioned N's controller judgment since the Gamecube. Guess we'll see.

the new controller or the console should have a ds card slot in it. if you could play ds games on the controller and your tv, as the two screens, that would be very cool.

did they say if more than one wii u controller can be used? they never showed any two or more player stuff that I saw, but I may have missed it.

Ah damn it, I just fliped through the pics (need to watch the video later) and there's enough there to keep me interested. Fuck I hope that AC game is not some spin off only for the Wiiu (probably is - did they mention?)...the I know I'll have to buy the damn thing. And a new Mario Kart which I think was for 3DS...

Damn it Nintendo, you know where to hit me right where it hurts.

I'm sure Ill get one but the damn thing looks like a 360 with an Ipad for a controller. Why cant they just offer a normal controller for once! Tired of gimicks. Is it going to be more than PS3 & 360?

But they also said you didn't need the TV to play some games (i.e. you can play them on the controller itself). It may be that you need to wirelessly linked to the console though, which would mean it's not a good option for the road. It's too big for that anyway (IMO). I still like the Gameboy Advance SP. That thing folded up small and fit in your pocket.

I think the new controller looks pretty cool. I'm kinda upset though that all the new stuff is coming out for the 3di. Feels like us Wii owners are getting screwed in the deal.

This sums up my feelings on the matter pretty well. :)

Yeah, GB Advance is a really good system. Only Gameboy I ever owned, actually. Plus, it has unlimited battery life (mine does at least).

No kidding. The GBA is probably the best handheld in history as far as I'm concerned. With backwards compatibility, excellent games, excellent battery life, and even a decent homebrew scene, I don't know how that could be disputed.

I agree. There were so many great games for the GBA as well. Many of my favorites like WarioWare (the original), Minish Cap, Advance Wars, etc.

I still own a couple of SPs. The battery life is unheard of compared to current portable devices. I can let my SP sit for like 3 months, pick it up and it will still have a good amount of juice left to play a game.

To go back to the Wii U. I think the oversized controller will be fine once people get their hands on it and start playing. From the looks of it, it's probably lighter than it looks.

As far as pricing, I'm guessing it will be $349.99. So $100 more than the 3DS. I don't see Nintendo going any more than that.

I just wonder how comfortable it will be to play in the long term.

True. It's more of a tablet that you'll need to hold on your lap. I guess it depends on what you're playing.

But any console/handheld controller too big or too small isn't going to be comfortable during a long gaming session. Ex. PSP Go, GBA Micro, etc.
