Yeah, I'm hoping that massive controller is lightweight. I wonder if it can double as a handheld. Download VC games to it and take it on the go.
I'm glad that the WiiU will be backward compatible. I'm curious to see how they'll do 3DS connectivity to it.
I'm definitely looking forward to the new Mario games.
Nope. They said that it's not meant to be used as a portable gaming system. Perhaps it can be hacked to be one, however.
Ah damn it, I just flips the the pics (need to watch the video later) and there's enough there to keep me interested. Fuck I hope that AC game is not some spin off only for the Wiiu (probably is - did they mention?)...the I know I'll have to buy the damn thing. And a new Mario Kart which I think was for 3DS...
Damn it Nintendo, you know where to hit me right where it hurts.

the damn thing looks like a 360 with an Ipad for a controller
I don't know how I feel about this thing. Then again, we've been saying that since the N64 and I've been pleased with each concept in the end. This is the first time I've questioned N's controller judgment since the Gamecube. Guess we'll see.
But they also said you didn't need the TV to play some games (i.e. you can play them on the controller itself). It may be that you need to wirelessly linked to the console though, which would mean it's not a good option for the road. It's too big for that anyway (IMO). I still like the Gameboy Advance SP. That thing folded up small and fit in your pocket.
Yeah, GB Advance is a really good system. Only Gameboy I ever owned, actually. Plus, it has unlimited battery life (mine does at least).
No kidding. The GBA is probably the best handheld in history as far as I'm concerned. With backwards compatibility, excellent games, excellent battery life, and even a decent homebrew scene, I don't know how that could be disputed.
I agree. There were so many great games for the GBA as well. Many of my favorites like WarioWare (the original), Minish Cap, Advance Wars, etc.
I still own a couple of SPs. The battery life is unheard of compared to current portable devices. I can let my SP sit for like 3 months, pick it up and it will still have a good amount of juice left to play a game.
To go back to the Wii U. I think the oversized controller will be fine once people get their hands on it and start playing. From the looks of it, it's probably lighter than it looks.
As far as pricing, I'm guessing it will be $349.99. So $100 more than the 3DS. I don't see Nintendo going any more than that.
I just wonder how comfortable it will be to play in the long term.
