Hi Guys,
This monitor is found in many DK Cocktail and other Nintendo tables, and is similar in design to the Sanyo 20EZV.
I a have a reasonable amount of knowledge with monitors but have 2 issues that are bugging me:
1) There is too much red! To the point where donkey kong is red (instead of brown, and you can't see the brown outline). I have fiddled with the control board brightness, screen voltage, focus and all of the neck board controls. The Red bias/drive pots don't seem to help, if I turn them up the black background turns a hint of red, if I turn them both to the absolute minimum on the pots, the background is the proper dark black but the red parts are still too red, e.g the girders are red instead of pinky. This is preventing me turning up the brightness too much so the blue Level top right indicator e.g L-00, does not show very well.
2) There is a slight wobble on the screen. All of the caps have been replaced, including the main filter cap C606. I am based in the UK and the cocktail table is designed for 220v (we are 240v), meaing the input to the monitor after the isolation transformer was 115v (instead of 100v). I therefore replaced the main filter cap with a 200v rather than 160v. I also had to adjust the b+ voltage (this should be 105v according to the manual rather than the 108v of the 20EZV. I could replace the H and V hold pots on the game board, and the same on the monitor chassis, but I don't think these are the issue. To me it sounds like a power issue, possibly a grounding issue. I have noticed that these monitors don't seem to have a proper earth plan.
The PSU nor the monitor have no proper earth-ground route.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Andy
