Nintendo red tent prices

i just bought 2 for $20. well, 2 non working

it all depends on where you live.

Is that bad or good?? What the frown? Is that expensive, or cheap if you are trying to sell?

Oops... I forget sometimes that people can't read my thoughts :)

I sold my RT for 200 or 250 (average condition... mild project) not too long ago after it sitting for a long time with not much (real) action.

good time to buy one!

cheers
/Tim

p.s. The frown was really just me whining... ;)

I got 2 last fall for $100 each (no boards) and all they ended up needing were fuses and they started right up once I got the boards. Just picked up another one last week with no monitors/board for $65 :)

I was at an auction once with no room and watched them sell several working for like $25 each. Kind of shitty looking back, wish I could have snagged some of those! Oh well.

How rare are these red tents? I've been in search of finding one... like alot of games. :)

It took me almost a year to find one on the West coast. They seem to pop up a lot on the East coast and Midwest for dirt cheap. At least, that's how I've seen it since I've been in this hobby.

I'm guessing West coast guys are more likely to pay more for one than East coast guys. I thought $250 for a working one was a great deal.

i saw one last month sell on ebay for $400... the guy had it listed for awile with a buy it now, then someone bought it.... but i still think $400 is to much for a tent....

Who knows if they are rare, or if they all got junked because they were ugly. Ive seen ONE for sale in SoCal since I have been collecting, and I missed out on it. So yeah, 1 in 7 years.

I'm sure a lot of Bay Area guys will chime in about how they used to see 100 of them at auctions for $1/ea, but I never went to those so I missed out on all of them too.

I don't think they're rare. They made plenty of them, plus the cabinet's metal so most of them didn't rot away or get converted.

The only way out for a red tent is if it actually got crushed. That didn't happen any more than it did to the other games, so there should be plenty of them still out there.

I have absolutely no clue on the history of the red tent so i offer speculation.

red tents were built for the japanese game scene considering their size and how you could fit a ton of games into a small space. once the Japanese arcade companies like sega and neo geo were bringing out the bigger 25" 29" screen candies, Nintendo bought all the tents they could, added their hardware and shipped them over to the states.

....hmmmmm

Just saw 4 at auction in KC, went from $100 to $180 working but converted. Only one had a vs board in it, SMB with a jamma game on the other side, and it went for $150 working but badly needed a monitor rebuild, went to fellow KLOV'rs place post auction and Grbgeman picked up a boardless one for $50...

Just picked one up from a Klov'r for 300. Needs some paint, but works awesome except one side needs a cap kit (which he gave me). I thought I got a great deal until i read the prices on here.

Oh well, he was great to deal with and I am enjoying the hell out of it!!!
