Hello All,

I recently purchased a Nintendo Red Tent with Dr. Mario on the "slave" side and Vs. Super Mario Bros on the "main" side.

The main side works perfectly, but the slave side won't register coin input, any input from the Player 2 controls or input from the Player 1 start button.

Player 1 side works perfectly. I put Dr. Mario into free play and was able to start only a 2 player game (since Player 1 start button isn't registering).

Also, I removed the PCB and noticed the 2 AA batteries are totally corroded. It doesn't look like they took any components out with it, but i'm wondering if that could be affecting the inputs? Also, how would I best clean up the battery acid?

Thanks!

Sounds like a harness problem if it's not coining up. I'm not sure exactly what the batteries do on a Vs PCB (that's kind of sad now that I think about it), but no battery corrosion is always better than some battery corrosion. Best to clean it with a 50/50 white vinegar and water mix, rinse with water, swab with 99% (or as close as possible) isopropyl alcohol and let dry.

Cool. I'm nervous about cleaning off the acid and accidentally messing up the board somehow. Haven't seen a Vs. board for sale in a while either so I'm not sure how easy I can replace it.

What bothers me about the inputs is that the coinmechs are on the main 44pin harness, while all other inputs are on the 36pin .

Does anyone know if someone makes reproduction Vs. harnesses? I'm thinking about getting a 36pin edge connector and trying to do a couple of inputs, just to see if it is the harness.
