Hello all, I've got a Nintendo 'Red Tent' that had multiple problems -- fixed those, but now there is just one..

Controls do not register unless the control panel connector is reseated everytime (unplugged->then plugged back in).

Has anyone experienced this or know what to check first?

On a side note, possibly related -- I checked volts at the edge connector on another occasion and noticed that some of the control pads had +5V on them which strikes me as odd but I'm not sure about Nintendo VS.

Usually the controller will put a ground to the pins and cause the action. I would bet the ground to the control panel is the problem and that should be looked at as well as voltages to the pcb and edge connector (cleaned).

ok, thanks.

This is definitely a grounding issue with the 2P side control harness. I poked around the ground loops on the harness and the issue comes and goes.

I guess I should recrimp the three ground loops and/or clean/replace the 2P connector ground pins (looked ok though).

Thankful it's not a board issue.
