Hello again. Found this little Jem tucked away at a local opperators shop about 40 Min from my house. Struck a deal for this nintendo cab with monitor and power supply. It was converted to play some Jamma game like 1942 airplane shooter according to the new control panel. But my 1st question is

1. Is there any physical observations that would indicate this is a real Nintendo Red Cab.
there is a darker maroon / red paint on top of a lighter shade of Red on the cabinet sides.

2. Will the Nintendo plate number (Model# TRS-UP-US) (Serial #B02938W) on the back of the cabinet reveal any info On what this cabinet was original "radar scope" ect..... ect..... it has a Popeye plexi on it right now.

3. This will be restored into a Donkey Kong cabinet and if in fact it is not a red cab I will more than likely Vinyl it durring the resto in the Light blue color. If it is a true Red cab. What should I do to restore it to its origional Red color. Paint? Vinyl? Does anyone make Nintendo Red vinyl?
Thank you for your input on my classic Nintendo Resto. I want this to be as close to factory OEM as I can possibly get it.
Thanks again
Jason

Nice find if its a radar scope cab ....thisoldgame.com has nintendo red vinyl. If they are out u can paint it as well. I painted mine and it turned out great. Still have the code from menards if u need it.

Yup.

TRS = Radarscope

Nice find. Looks like it has the original ISO in the bottom.

Original 5 slot speaker grille cabinet with the matching white laminate coin box.

Hey that Paint code might be usefull if you could PM me that I would greatly appreciate it.

If you're interested in selling this cabinet in exactly the condition it's in, let me know. I'm a serious buyer with ca$h to spend on the right cab.

Before you paint that cabinet, are you going to try and strip the darker red off? Maybe the gel coat red is still good under it.

alright Im this far in the dismantle process.

1. Pain in the but coin door bolts screwed right in front of the coin box shelf. so the shelf had to be taken out before I could remove everything.

2. realized that there is bracing missing from the Chassis that supports the top of the veritcal mounted screen. So If I remove it from the cabinet I fear that the screen attached at the bottom of the chassis will bend.

3. SO... does some one repop chassis support brackets. or does any one have any I could buy.

But everything is going smoothly I just need to remove the monitor with out damage.
another question is the standard Light bulb socket proper for this cabinet?

I'm pretty sure that the red laminate underneath will not be affected by Citristrip. If it's the same material as the blue DK's, then you're fine.

No, I do not believe those light fixtures are original.

Here's a couple of pic's of the inside of my cabinet. As you have noted you are missing the metal supports and the neck gaurd for the monitor. There is also a wooden gaurd behind the monitor shelf at 90 degrees to it that appears to be missing. The cabinet also appears to be missing the PCB shelf.

The light fixtures are non-original pieces. That bit with the coin door bolts being behind the coin shelf is a real PIA on these cabinets. My Helifire restoration thread has more detail pic's than these. It also has some pic's of the original marquee light. The Helifire cab has some structural differences around the monitor area but otherwise is internally the same.
