Nintendo Question: Will a Vs. Board fit in a Mario Bros metal cage?

Is there any fundamental difference between the Mario Bros style cage and the Vs. style cage. In other words, can I remove the Mario Bros pcb board and filter board and swap in a Vs. board and filter board (I know I'll need a different wiring harnes but I'm just curious about whether I need to swap cages too.)

Not a 100% answer, but it should be fine. The only issue that I've run into is when there are multiple PCBs in the stack or filter boards aligning. The Vs board is only one main PCB and if there is a problem with the filter board fitting, don't use it.

The problem is that the filterboard on Mario Bros., Popeye, and Donkey Kong 3, are different styles than the PlayChoice-10 and VS systems. The VS and PC-10 had pushbuton fasteners and the others use screws to hold the filterboard in place. If you want it going together like it should be in the cab then you will need to switch cages out.

+1

I have a Mario Bros cage, and a VS. cage, the only difference I see if how the filter board plate is attached.

I was afraid you'd say that.
