I had a guy contact me about fixing his Playchoice 10, upon checking things out, I've come to the conclusion that the power supply needs rebuilt/replaced. I've done a lot of searching in the last 24 hours, and I'm trying to find out what the difference is between the PP-7A & PP-7B power supplys are. I don't have it in front of me at the moment, but here's a photo pulled from the net of what it looks like. This is the PP-7B right?

I've found a few threads talking about the different caps to get for replacements:

Board without heatsink:

330uf 200v - C6/C7
10uf 16v - C22
47uf 35v - C13
47uf 16v - C18/C19/C20/C30/C31/C32/C37/C38

Board with heatsink:

47uf 35v - C11
1000uf 50v - C10
47uf 16v - C36/C12
3300uf 10v - C15/C16/C27/C28
1000uf 25v - C21
10uf 16v - C2/C35/C34/C24
100uf 25v - C23/C33

Then followed by this comment:
To add to this - since this is a switching supply, you MUST use low-ESR type caps for the Vout caps of the regulator circuit.

As I don't have it in front of me, which caps are being refered to? I'm just trying to get a head start at tracking down what I'll need. Also, I'm in need of a button replacement for the Reset button on the cp:

To any and all who help, thank you :)

Just put a new switcher in instead of using the old one.

Agreed.

I found a defective AC to DC power switcher in my Playchoice and I replaced it with a newer style switcher as opposed to using the original Nintendo switcher. You can see exactly what I did at the 2 minute mark in the video below.

Thanks for the vid AG, that shows me what I need to do. I was kind of hoping to rebuild the original, but it sounds like it's more of a hassle than it may be worth. I'll look into going that route, thanks guys :)

Anyone know where to find any of those replacement buttons pictured? I need at least one of those as well.

OK, so here's what I have. I just got the original ps over to my place, and I understand most of this setup for a new switcher, but question one or two items. Maybe I'm over thinking it......

I know most of the wires from the harness, and where they should hook up to the switcher.
-Brown, Red, & Orange = Ground
-Blue & Purple = +5v
-Yellow & Green = +12v
-White = +24v
-Grey = ? <---haven't found anything on this yet, as the rest of the machine is not here.

The +24 is used for the coin counter, anything else? Using +12v for that should be OK right? Or do these Nintendo PC 10 cabs need +24v somewhere else?

Anyone know what the grey wire would be for? I've got a 9 pin harness coming off the orginal PP-7B ps, every slot is full and accounted for, except this wire.

From the pics below, this is what I have to work with. I need to keep that power transformer/ISO transformer to supply the 100VAC for the Video Monitor Main PCB, right? Or can I wire from the switcher to the Video Monitor board?

Most of this seems pretty straight forward, but I'm stressing as I believe I am over thinking this, lol. Greatly appreciate the help thus far.

Gray Wire-
I believe the Gray pin is for -5V, which isn't needed for the playchoice. It was used on Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr.

+24V-
Do not hook it up.

Monitor Power -
Keep it as is. Powering the monitor and powering the Switcher are 2 different things, do not try to make them closer to being the same.
