I need to buy a set of flat white off-set t-molding from Chomping Quarters for my Donkey Kong restoration. Before I install it, I need to repair the cab, which includes cutting a new slot in some repaired corners.

Here's the question. What size router bit do you all use to cut the slot for this item? Bill @ Chompingquarters.com recommend I ask here.

Do you use 0.08", 5/64" or 1/16" wide slot cutters?

Thanks!

1/16" - someone else correct me if I'm wrong or double check me. 1/16" is used for all of the 3/4" molding and should work for the spline on that 5/8" or whatever it is molding.

I don't want to screw up a sale seeing I'm still not to the break even point on this offset molding... However, have you considered filling the slot all the way around and just centering the slot? Purchasing standard molding?

Mine is flatter and a near exact profile to the original.

Usually, the molding determines which slot cutter size to use. Yeah, most people here will say I've used yadda yadda size and never had a problem, but spines do come in different sizes and each have recommended slot width size.

No, I hadn't considered this. Thanks for the suggestion, but the vast majority of my cabinet is in excellent shape. I just have a couple of banged up corners to fix and re-cut. I think your off-set t-molding is the best bet.

I guess I could cut a thin slot, then if it didn't work I could make it wider. I also haven't measured my slot yet. So, audiomidiman, what's the width of the spine? How does it compare to the original width?

So I measured my slot last night. Came out to 3/16. Hummmm.

Has anyone actually cut the slot for this specific t-molding? Please advise.
