I'm rebuilding my 4-way Nintendo joystick and I can figure out if there is a way to remove the colar and pivot ball from the upper housing, its pretty gummy and certainly it would be alot easier to clean if I could remove it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Greg

There is no way to remove the pivot ball as the base is spot welded together.
I just sprayed WD-40 into the picot ball area and used pipe cleaners,Q-tips or whatever I could get in there to remove the old grease.
I just repeated till it was all gone.
I then blew it out with compressed air till dry.
Put it back together and lube it with Teflon lube gel.

If it were me I'd remove everything from the joystick housing that I could, then spray carburetor cleaner on the pivot ball to remove the old grease. Let it dry completely then re-grease.

Any of the stuff mentioned above will work.
Just use whatever you have on hand
