I just installed the black and clear plastic discs...

What's the deal with these? I'm really hating the clear one. For a start, it creates a tension on the stick that seems too heavy. And secondly, the hole cut in the disc (I got it from Mike's) is exactly the same diameter as the shaft of the stick, so when you move the stick, the disc strains and bends, like so:

I know that many people take them off. I don't have a memory of playing with these installed where it actually bugged me, so I thought I'd restore it to factory spec, but this just seems wrong.

Is there a hack for this? Widen the diameter? Remove it altogether?

The fit should definitely not be that tight. The hole should not be exactly the same size as the joystick shaft. I wonder if the joystick shaft is the right one? There are little differences between Nintendo joysticks. I know that DK and Vs. joysticks are not the same. Maybe somebody else on here who knows them better can identify if that is the issue for you.

file the hole out a little. had to do it to mine. i left tight,it will scratch your cpo over time, will get a hazy look. also they crack easy.

I bought the #2 on this list:

The one I had in my DK was the wrong type (#5), and that one arrived yesterday from Mike's. The black disc was perfect, but not the clear one. Gonna give it a dremelling this weekend perhaps.

I had some original clear discs and some MikesArcade reproes and the reproduction discs are quite a bit thicker than the originals and they are tighter. Now this all could be from years of wearing down the originals, but the repro discs felt horrible so I opted to take mine off of my game when I had it. I include the clear disc when I build CPs for people, but only because it originally came with one.

Feels fine on my cabaret Donkey?? Kong.

Here are pics of mine from Mike's installed. Maybe my panel has a different shaft? I dont have the gold collar beneath the balltop.
