Hey all,
So this is a WG in a PC10 that I have. I believe this box hooked on the PCB cage is the inverter board/ unit.... yes?

Then what is this??? It looks to be an audio board.

Both seem to be in some way connected to the monitor. Any input?

yes i can help you.

you have a VS or single monitor PC 10 machine.

with a inverted K7000 monitor and an external amp for the sound.

Damn!

So where would I find the inverter board?

If this helps, this is what I am looking at...

It's not that board on the side of the frame is it??

you don't have an inverter board.

the K7000a is inverted on the chassis.

your iso for the monitor is on the rite side of the monitor.

the box hanging on the big square PCB cage is the power supply for the PCB.

Thanks Buffett.
So would this monitor work with another board that isn't Nintendo?

Wouldn't the colors be messed up for anything but Nintendo?

Or does the PC10 not run inverted colors like the VS and earlier Nintendo boards?

You have to mod the chassis to use the monitor on something other then Nintendo. There is a thread on here about the mod which is pretty simple to do.

That Wells Gardner 19K7000a monitor in your cabinet was modified/installed specifically for use with the inverted video that Nintendo outputs. It had to have been a replacement for a dedicated Wells Gardner monitor that was used in the R-Type and Playchoice Single cabs. IF it's an original installation, it would be the first time that I've ever seen a K7000a (the Zenith made one) used in a Playchoice Single cab. From what I know, the Playchoice singles came with Wells Gardner K7xxx monitors, but I've never seen one using the Zenith board. That's why I'm guessing that it's maybe a replacement chassis that's been modified. Perhaps the original chassis crapped out, and the owner replaced it with this one.

There's some documentation out there to convert the monitor chassis back to standard video, but why would you want to do this?

If you're considering a standard monitor in that cab with a Nintendo classic board, you'll need some way to invert the video coming from the game board. You'll also need an audio amp. The Nintendo "AV-01" inverter/audio board does this. Mike's arcade also sells an aftermarket replacement for the same combo audio/video board for $25.

Here's a picture of the AV-01 board, though this is a bad photo since the connectors are obscured by some hacked wiring:

The AV-01 board was commonly used board in the Playchoice "kit" that you could buy to install the Playchoice system into a Nintendo classic cabinet. (think: Playchoice-60 in a DK cab).

Thanks man. I appreciate the input. Sucks because I thought this had a Nintendo inverter board with it like my other one did. Oh well.

that is not the first PC 10 i have helped a klover with that had a K7000a chassis in it from the factory.

you can swap any other monitor in there if you want.

if you go with another K7xx then you would just need to mod it to work.
witch is not hard just follow the thread linked above.

most any other monitor you would need an inverter for.
you could just get a Nintendo inverter that came with sanyos.
to invert the video if you used a G07, 4900, 4600, Ect...

no need for another sound amp as you already have what you need in the cab running the sound now.
