Nintendo ds

I am 150% buying ultimate mortal kombat for the ds. I hear its an amazing port. and MK is big right now in my life (see resto thread) LOL

Most of the good GBA games have already been listed. The Super SFII Turbo remake is pretty damn good, too. The SF Alpha 3 one is pretty awesome considering it's on GBA, but there are some little things with it that are annoying. But overall, it's a good port considering what all is in there.

There's A LOT of great GBA stuff out there, though. I probably have almost as much GBA stuff as DS, but it's not all organized like my DS stuff. I'll go through it all tonight and see if there's something that hasn't yet been listed, which I'm sure there is.

For gba,I liked River City Ransom DX and of course Mega Man and Bass as well as all 6 Mega Man Battle Network games.:D

Any Castlevania game on the GBA (or any system for that matter) is a must play.

And don't forget the Metroid games!!!

I also liked Dynasty Warriors Advance and the Elevator Action remake.

Some of the Dragon Ball/DBZ games are pretty good as well.

Alright so tripple posting here.

Prof. Layton is amazing, I love puzzles so this game is a dream come true. The only problem I have is my router is set up for WPA and the ds uses WEP. so i cant download the weekly puzzles or play online from home.

Ultimate mortal kombat is awesome, great pick up and play game

Hotel dusk is pretty cool, moves at a slow pace so I havent really played, just about for 10 minutes, I hear amazing reviews so im not gonna sleep on this one.

And the new super mario im sure we all know is amazing.

Anyways, my point is, my paycheck was great this week so lets get some more, plus my b day is sunday the 22nd!

Def. want the prof layton diabolical box. and wanna finish the two before the new one in sept if I can.

Thinking of picross3d, seen some videos and looks interesting.

Dragon quest 9 seems cool, I got the new nintendo power with the shiny gold dragon quest cover and theres a huge article on it. I havent read into it but anyone who plays these games, can I start with this one?? Will I not know what the hell is going on?

Is scribblenauts good? Should I wait for the new one in oct.? or pick up both?? any thoughts?

kingdom hearts 358/2 good? I watched my sister play half of the first 2 games on ps2. and it seemed awesome. Any thoughts?

Megaman zero collection? I never played any of the zero series. is it decent? (im calling on you gutsman)

Mario vs DK 2 march of the minis? If I can find this in the store is it worth it? whats it like?

I can answer 2 of these. I used to be a huge Dragon Quest fan as well.:)
In the DQ series, they made them in trilogies. So DQ 1-3's stories are all related,DQ 4-6 are,as well as DQ 7-9.So DQ 9 would be the last of this third trilogy.

The stories are not deeply intertwined, but there will be some similiarities.I didn't see a whole lot of similiarities between 7 and 8,other than both heroes were humble boys from small villages who were destined to be a hero. That, and they both dressed like hobos.

Megaman Zero is a really cool and somewhat underrated series. The thing about it though is that the games are not easy and can get pretty frustrating. The storyline is pretty crazy, but pretty cool at the same time.

Probably my favorite of the series is the third one, although I really liked the first one as well....especially the boss battle at the end and the stuff that takes place after you beat him! Good stuff!

I would highly recommend the MMZ series. Although I've never played it,I would bet that DQ 9 is a pretty cool game, especially if they improved on what DQ 8 brought to the table.

I've never played the Mega Man ZX or Mega Man Star Force games(don't own a DS),although Star Force from what I've seen is kind of a spin-off of the MM Battle Network series and MM ZX is sort of a spin off of the MM Zero series.

It's good, and extremely well done, it still amazes me how many words the game knows. It's hilarious coming up with weird items, dressing Maxwell in drag never gets old. But the control scheme can be a bit frustrating. The only other niggles I have are that the physics are a bit strange, it 'reuses' graphics for some similar items eg most animals, and while you can stick stuff together with glue, you can't really make contraptions out of the items you summon. I really wanted to make a tank out of an inverted escalator....

The new one apparently fixes the controls and supports adjectives as well as nouns, so you can make eg, "pink hammer", "giant snail", etc. I am sure there will be more puzzles in the sequel. But the first game is amazing enough it's worth a purchase. You should now be able to easily find this discounted or preowned.

Mario vs DK 2 march of the minis? If I can find this in the store is it worth it? whats it like?

It's good old school puzzle platforming action. I have it, it's good solid fun.

IF you do enjoy HD and want more, you can try Trace Memory as well. IT's by the same people, but is a bit more childish. Same type of game, quite a bit easier and probably shorter. Still it's fun if you can find it for $7 like I did.

I haven't played a DQ game all the way through since the ones on NES, but I've always loved the series, none-the-less. I haven't played the more recent ones at all except for Rocket Slime, which was surprisingly addictive. Regardless, you can't really go wrong with a DQ game, imo.

I never really got into it, but maybe I'm just not as creative as I used to be :p Neat concept, though.

I have a couple of these and enjoyed them for the most part. I still prefer the originals and the X series more than any of the others, though. And I absolutely despise the Battle Network games...sorry gutsman...

Great Game. BUY IT. If you like Mario and you like puzzles, then I don't think you can not get this one. I forget which DS system you got, but if it's a DSi, then you can get the one from the DSi Store as well. It's quite good for a downloadable title.

Haha! To each their own! I know when I first heard about and saw MMBN I was like....ummm...what the hell is this? Then I played it....and liked it.And the more I played it,the more I liked it.Don't get me wrong,I love the original series above all other MM series,(with the X series a close second) but I do like MM Battle Network a lot even though the stories are pretty campy and aimed at younger players.

thanks for all the replies guys!

I think im def. gonna pick up the mario vs dk 2 march of the minis, theres even a new one coming out I think in dec.

Gonna look into the MMZ collection, I like the side scrolling games.

I hear trace Memory is so-so, but if I can find it cheap then ill pick it up. There is another one called Again which I hear is so-so as well.

Also there was supposed to be a sequel called the Last window or something but no word on the U.S. release :(

Also curious, any good DS forums. And I have a ds lite. until the 3ds is out

Trace Memory is fun, but pretty short. You can easily beat it in one afternoon of gaming.

If you like puzzle type games Henry Hatworth and the Puzzling Adventure is pretty good (unless you're like me and partially colorblind, then it's incredibly frustrating).

For arcade style action Metal Slug 7 is a blast to play through.

just picked up Prof. layton diabolical box and the Henry Hatsworth. I saw the youtube trailer and was hooked, cant wait to play it. Got my first b day card, probably gonna go get scribblenauts lol

HIGHLY recommend Henry Hatsworth in the puzzling adventure. Amazing game, cant put it down LOL

My wife's hooked on Henry Hatsworth. When she lost her DS (left it in the pouch on a plane) she lost that game... and we had to re-buy it.

I enjoy it, but the bottom screen messes me up with my color issues.

yea I can imagine, some of the colors are very close, red and dark red, and blue light blue. Sometimes I cant tell untill I chain them together. I must say it took me a while to get used to the puzzles because EVERY puzzle game I have played like that, you can arrange up and down not just side to side. so its a nice challenge

By "Again" do you mean "Another Code"? (Nevermind, I just found the game you were referring to. Thanks - I hadn't heard about "Again" before. I will have to look this one up now!) "Another Code" is what Trace Memory is known as in other parts of the world. There's a sequel that hasn't made it here yet, called Another Code R, which is for the Wii. It came out in Europe, so you can get it in English. It's PAL, obviously, but it's not hard to get it running on your US Wii with little effort.

I picked it up new on Ebay for about $30. I'm not very far into it yet, but it seems pretty decent. The gameplay is a bit different since it's on a console vs handheld, but the style is still very much the same. I've attached a funny pic I took while playing a while back. Ha. It was so big :D

As for the new Hotel Dusk game, yeah - there's little chance of it making it over here. But I as I mentioned in an earlier post, the European version comes out next month so perhaps we'll get lucky and be able to import it through Play-Asia or somewhere like that. Not sure if they still do, but the Fry's down here was pretty good about carrying imports for DS, so perhaps they'll get a few copies when it comes out.

I don't go much anymore, but I used to frequent the qj.net forums. I believe they have a section devoted to DS.

I've never even heard of this one, I don't think. Will need to look into that.

henry hatsworth is amazing, serious, check some youtube videos, its a side scrolling beat em up platformer, mixed with like bejweled on the bottom screen, but the way its put together is amazing, you need to go back and fourth. Kinda like baby pac man in the pinball/video sense. To refil your health you need to match the heart block in the puzzle with 2 others (you need to make chains of 3 to make blocks vanish) also theres power ups and enemies in the puzzle. awesome game, hilarious sounds. the way the people talk.
