Just bought a ds lite. my 4th. (only own one now)

thoughts on games? I have the new super mario bros. I want the prof. layton games def. and maybe the resident evil (forgot the name but remix of the first)

anything else?

I'd play the Dragon Quest remixes (4,5,and 6) 4 was bad ass on the NES.I played 5 on the SNES by cutting out the tabs in the unit and 6 I've only played briefly on an emu.Give those a try if you like RPGs. As far as other games....hmm...you know where I'm going with this....drumrolllllllllll....any Mega Man game!!!! Hahaha!

Hotel Dusk is a must have. I have about 80 other games I could recommend...maybe later.

I am picking up a 3ds in march but I wanted this for now and I have a cruise in january.

Is picross 3d any good?

Yeah, Layton is awesome (still need the new ones), Picross is too, Meteos is probably my favorite DS puzzle game (if you want to call it that).

Hotel Dusk is probably my favorite DS game overall and I've been dying for a sequel. Last I checked the new one didn't look like it would be coming state side :( However, it's releasing in Europe in September, so maybe that will be good enough.

Anyway, there are a lot of games I could recommend, but just take a look at my collection for yourself (or most of it, anyway). Hopefully the forum software won't compress it so much you can't read them all :p

If you're going for puzzlers, though, here are a few obvious recommendations: Tetris DS, Professor Layton, Planet Puzzle League, Picross DS, Meteos, Mario vs DK 2, Zookeeper (this one is a Bejeweled clone, basically)...and that's about all I can think of at the moment.

UMK has been out for some time. I picked it up when it was pretty new and sadly wasn't too impressed. Though it's a good port, overall.

very nice, trauma center was awesome on the wii. n+ is a great pick up game.

with that many games, what do you find yourself picking up to play the majority of the time?

Probably n+, Meteos, Mario Kart, or Jump Super/Ultimate Stars (both are imports).

You have Jump Super Stars too??? I picked that one up while I was in Japan. Actually, I got two. But all my friends sucked at it and never wanted to play

Yeah, great game. Got both of them way back when they first came out. Played the hell out of JSS, but honestly never spent much time with JUS like I wanted to.

N+, Layton, New SMB, and the Castlevania games are my favorites on the DS. The third Layton is come to the US in September I believe.

If you want shooters, the Nanostray games are fun.
If you want RPGs Etrian Odyssey II was the most brutally hard game I've ever played, but a ton of fun too. Part III is coming out soon.
For classics Space Invaders Extreme is good. If you can find the japanese import spinner controller, it rocks with Arkanoid.

just curious, any one use an r4 card??

I have one that I've used for homebrew, videos, music, and for playing games I've left in the plastic (like the game and watch collection). I also use it sometimes if I go on a business trip and don't want to haul dozens of game carts with me.

I have all the Castlevania for DS, but the only one I've played through so far is Dawn of Sorrow. It is very good. but, towards the end, it gets so hard.

I do wish they had a better variety of weapons in it. I found that I got a weapon early one, and stuck with it through most of the game.

Advance Wars is another series I would suggest. Good turn based strategy

Definitely Advance Wars and Days of Ruin/Dark Conflict. Excellent games.

Civilization Revolution is another decent game, should be able to get it for cheap as it has been out for a while.

I don't think anybody mentioned Bowser's Inside Story. Awesome game, if you like that sort of thing (which I do).

any good GBA games?? I def. want super mario world, and a couple of the castlevania games. not to expensive when you figure 40 compared to a new xbox game is 65 after tax. any input?

Castlevania Circle of the Moon was great.

Other than that I use my GBA slot for classics like Xevious or Bubble Bobble.

If you like the old Super Mario Bros, then the Super Mario Advance collection is really good.

It's all the older Mario games (not in order) with the SNES All Stars type graphics upgrades.

The first two Breath of Fire games made it to the advance as well
As did some of the best Final Fantasy games ever.

Golden Sun is a pretty good series as well.

The Zelda games are good. The best being the "A Link to the Past." But, if you want an original Zelda game, the Minish Cap is pretty good.

As with the DS versions, Advance Wars. It got its start (in America) on the GBA, and they are very good
