Does anyone know if a Donkey Kong 3 is directly compatible with the harness in a Popeye and can I just plug the connector onto the DK3?

I thought this thread was gonna be about which game you like better. If it was, I woulda chose Popeye.

You can get by with plugging Popeye into DK3, but not the other way around. Popeye lacks some of the voltages the DK series uses. Plus the monitor orientation is different.

No, Popeye is different, but DK, Jr, and 3 are all compatible with an edge harness.

Popeye holds a special place in my heart as a kid. Nowadays however, I gravitate towards squeezing off a few rounds of DK3 more often.

I honestly dont care for either.. I have a DK3, but its mostly there to make the set complete..

DK gets played ALOT, Dk Jr quite a bit, Dk 2 occasionally, and DK3 hardly ever. I'm still going back and forth about getting rid of my DK3 for a playchoice 10.

Okay. So a DK jr. harness properly wired with the monitor turned on its side will work for a DK3 but Popeye will not. I have a DK, DK3, popeye and Mario Bros. Currently DK3 isn't working so I wanted to do a quick test.

I only *sorta* liked DK3 until I found out you can play it as a shooter and kill all the bugs to end the round. :)

You don't need to rotate the monitor amongst the DK series. Popeye is Horizontal. The DK's are all vertical. As long as you have the edge-connector style harness in your DK or DKjr, DK3 is plug n play.
