Nintendo console and 5 games for $13,105

Yeah, there was a post recently in the ebay/CL thread about a sealed Mega Man 1. It sold for over $1000 I think.

The most rare game is the Gold Nintendo World Championship cartridge. I think only a handful were made to be given to the winners after the competition. They've sold for up to $20,000 I believe.

This was simply due to the one game and the fact that it was boxed up and in nice shape.

Wikipedia:
"The North American, or NTSC, version of Stadium Events is universally accepted as the rarest licensed NES game ever available for purchase in North America."

Crazy money indeed, but some of those cartridge collectors are crazy....

It's sad to think that game went for that much money, and you can buy World Class Track Meet for a couple of bucks, and they are the same damn game!

I think those gold cartridges were given out as prizes in a separate contest held by Nintendo Power magazine at this competition. There were 26 of them made and 12 are known to exist. Where are the other 14????

Sounds like a golden ticket for the Wonka Factory.....

This is what I was talking about. This is considered the rarest NES cartridge ever:

The last one sold in December 2009 for $18,000 to a private collector.

I was really big into the nes when first came out and I tried to the best of my ability to get every Nintendo cartridge that came out. Anyway I swear I remember seeing this game at Wal-Mart way back when! I passed on it since I didn't have the powerpad. The following week I got once and guess what...Not a single damn copy on the shelves!!!! Damn I wish I had a time machine!!!!

a bandai stadium events is worth it alone... only xxx were made

New CL ad is hilarious!

This is pretty hilarious. Since the ebay sale, there is some guy who placed an ad on CL in Eugene,OR and he's, well, just read it for yourselves. hahaha:

http://eugene.craigslist.org/vgm/1598641648.html

"Ok I need the help of the Craigslist community! I have been playing my old Nintendo Entertainment system with my kids and would like to have my old favorite game again. When I was youger i had a game called "Stadium Events" i want it again so I can play it with my children. Willing to pay you $150 for just the game and $200 if you have the manual and box. Please help me find this game. I will come to you in person with cash in hand. thanks, Jeff"

This was followed swiftly be another guy who posted a rant:

http://eugene.craigslist.org/vgm/1598715521.html

"Trying to get a good deal is one thing, but intentionally misleading people with some bs story about how much you want to play your "favorite game" again with your kids is a bit much. I'm guessing the only reason "Stadium Events" is his favorite game is because a copy just sold on ebay for 13,000 bucks. If you have this game, do yourself a favor and make sure somebody pays you what it's worth. "

Which was then one-upped by another posting poking fun at the original:

http://eugene.craigslist.org/vgm/1598731305.html

"Ok I need the help of the Craigslist community! I have been reading my old comics with my kids and would like to have my old favorite comic again. When I was younger i had a comic called "Action Comics" i want it again so I can read it with my children. Willing to pay you $200 if you have #1 with good old Superman on the cover. Please help me find this comic. I will come to you in person with cash in hand. thanks, Jackass Jeff

Just another scammer trying to scam the scammees with a wicked scam! Later suckers! "

Pretty funny stuff.

That's, like...the dorkiest humor I've read so far this year.

(I chuckled.)
