I put this in the restoration/cosmetic forum becuz I saw a resto some one did on a nintendo pc10 or whatever cabinet that changes some of the color/cp to lok nicer

Am I the only one who thinks most nintendo cabinets look uglier then heck, to plain at best?

I love me some nintendo games but dang the cabinets are nothing to look at, which is weird cuz the glass bezels are pretty nice themselves in my opinion....

Opinion comments pictures link plz!

I think the OP posted his opinion in the wrong forum.

That might work over at mameworld, but your gonna get flamed here for such comments :)

I cant say the nintendo games game play is my fav. But Man I thought The nintendo cabs art and design were some of the best out there!

I like the cab design, but think the color schemes are bad. I really do not like their blue. DK looks best in Red, maybe Orange, or even Black. DK Jr and Popeye are ok in Blue, but I prefer it a bit deeper shade. DK 3 looks good in Orange.

IMHO it's not the design of the cab that is bad, but the colors which can make them look like crap. Especially the orange and baby blue, they look like something that should be made of plastic and have Fisher Price cast into the bottoms. I do like the artwork though, with the exception of the generic VS CPOs which look totally lifeless.

I think a semi-gloss black Donkey Kong cab might look really cool!

I am of the opinion that DK style cabs kickass. They're different than most bland "black" cabs... they have nice colors that stand out from the rest... side art is pretty detailed... bezel art is nice... marquee isn't too big... CPO is nice and clean and includes an instruction sheet right there on the CP... overall I think they look better than most arcade cabinets out there..

As for functionality... they kickass as well! Light...easily 100lbs lighter than most Atari cabinets for example... and they have wheels on the back.
My only gripe with them is their lack of "Feet"... which I fix with nail-on nylon feet.

The colors are bright, graphics are busy and the cabinets are very approachable - no menacing death/destruction/exploding/mostly naked women/etc on them. Safe for the younger kids. That's always been one of Nintendo's winning strategies.

Regardless, call the cabinets ugly and I'll say that's a troll. Have you browsed the klov.com archives? There's plenty of ugly cabs to go around.

We all have different opions about what we like and not.

so thats all I have to say.

Seriously have you seen a pc10 cabinet with that big goofy art on the side that just says nintendo 6 times or whatever.

They are easier to move though for sure.

PC10 is just an NES in an arcade machine that saves high scores, what did you expect? Nintendo cabs all hardly look the same so if you want to call the PC10 ugly fine but don't just catagorize it to all Nintendo games. The games we're meant to be swappable that was part of the appeal, so its not like they could put themed artwork on it.

I wouldn't call them ugly at all. It would have been interesting to see what they would have done with a more unique design between some games, but regardless the cabs are classic.

I'd have to dissagree with this thread topic.

You can't beat a Nintendo row... mine consists of a DK in blue, PC10, and MB WB.... all of which need work... the only sad part....

I can see why some people wouldn't like them, I for one wouldn't call them anymore more then "decent".

The games on the INSIDE however...
