Hello, I've been thinking about repainting my Donkey Kong and had a few questions. I've been looking through a lot of the restorations and have noted that some involved the removal of the cabinet's front panels, which makes the painting process much easier.
When I went to do this myself, I couldn't determine how exactly this was accomplished. I was able to remove the two pieces with the control panel clips as they were merely held on by four screws, but in doing so, I apparently ripped out staples that held these pieces to the speaker grill. It would seem that the only thing holding the speaker grill on now is a wooden block, bound by glue and staples to the small panel that sits above the coin door panel.
I'm not exactly sure where to go from here. Are these pieces usually held together in this manner? Are they usually replaced by screws? I would appreciate any advice regarding this process, and I apologize if it seems silly.
